Jilly's Halloween Handbook: Yard Décor
So last week we covered interior design ideas for Halloween and now we’re talking about an ever-important topic: yard décor. Just like decorating any other space you should really plan it out. Pull some inspiration from magazine articles and the internet so you can create a theme.
I love to use items from around the house for a rugged, rustic look. Not only is it a great and easy theme, but it also saves money and you’re being green by using reclaimed items! Also, there’s always the risk that your neighbors don’t love Halloween as much as you do, but rustic décor won’t bother those who don’t participate in the festivities.
When you’re shopping it’s important not to go overboard- simple is better. Reclaimed wood, crates, real gourds, pumpkins, old wine barrels, recycled tin cans with candles in them and even stacks of hay are all great yard props. Here are some images to get the inspiration flowing:

It gives me some great ideas. We always have a lot of kids come by our house. I plan to buy a few pumpkins this year and color some faces on them. We also have a large candle inside of a hurricane lamp, that would be a good light to put outside on the step. Halloween can be a lot of fun with kids around.
Oh I need you to come decorate my porch! I love all these ideas, but have a really small opening on our porch that is visible. I want to make it look as pretty as these, but still need space to get to the door.

I just love the Pumpkins with the flowers in them. What a great idea Jillian. I love decorating & gardening. Halloween was my favorite as a child. Waiting for the sun to start to go down so we could go trick or treating. Getting egged & the crap scared out of us by the bigger kids..haha. All in fun thou. I love this website. I read it everyday. I also absolutely love Halloween and besides this I also love fall. I just checked some pictures of pumpkins with flowers inside and it looks fantastic. What a great idea I love it and will definitely give it a try. Besides this I also love gardening and flowers. In spring and summer I always use the flowers in my garden if I need a flower bouquet but in fall and winter I often order flowers by post in UK. This is a great option if you always want fresh flowers at home.
