Hi guys! A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to surprise my mom with a great treat: her first trip to New York City! I was there for work but we also found time to shop, explore, and see friends and we had a magical time. Here are some of our trip highlights and stay tuned for a recap of my work with La-Z-Boy this week as well!

1. Day 1 on the subway
Our first ride on the subway. I've actually been freaked about riding the subway on my ten previous NYC visits but this time I ventured down below and LOVED it- it was so easy!

I wore:

• An old Forever 21 frock/blouse (as a dress)
• Frye Campus Over The Knee Boots
• Mackage Leather Jacket from Aritzia
• A dress belt I got from TopShop in Ireland as a headband

Mom is in head to toe Versace :) (kidding)

2. Dinner at Abe and Arthur’s
Later that night we went to dinner at Abe and Arthur’s which is one of my favorite places to eat. Best thing on the menu? The bacon appetizer- three slices of juicy crispy bacon fire grilled and served with 'kraut and BBQ sauce. Oh and the boys at A&A's are pretty sweet on the eyes :)

3. Rockefeller Center

I Have ALWAYS wanted to visit the Rockefeller Christmas tree! It is SO, SO SO stunning and there is just so much energy in the air!

• Leopard Platform Pumps (not sure of brand but they were uncomfortable as hell!)
• BDG green skinny jeans from Urban Outfitters
• Lace Tee with gold buttons on back from Forever 21
• Same Mackage jacket and Aritzia scarf
• Marc by Marc Jacobs classic Percy bag in black which is my favorite new item, especially for traveling

4. Exploring in the Rain
A shout out to Shannon my BFF on this one- she hates it when I tell everyone where we get our clothes- hahah! Sorry Shannon, gotta spread the love :)

This outfit is a little more NYC practical and inspired by Shannon. Shopping in Soho is her favorite thing to do on earth so naturally as her BFF it ranks as one of mine too. It was pouring this day so mom went back to the hotel and I just cruised the streets of New York solo for hours, listing to my music on my iPhone and enjoying the holiday vibe.

• Cream knee high socks from H&M
• Oversized waffle knit sweater from H&M
• My FAVORITE scarf from FashionABLE
• Toque from H&M (in Canada we call those little winter hats toques!)

5. Bringing Canadian Flair to the Big Apple Ì¢èÏå¼
On our last night in town mom and I went to the Hurricane Club- a very cool Hawaiian/ Polynesian themed place. She was craving coconut shrimp and they have THE best in town.

I wore:

• Seven For All Mankind dark denim jeggings
• Cropped red and black check flannel (just call me lumberjack Jill)
• “Navajo inspired” (hehehe) belt from Aritiza
• Frye boots (seen above) but with the cuff pulled up
• BCBG sequined clutch from Shop It To Me
• Stack of bracelets from Lolo Jewels, KV Bijou and Forever 21
• Wilfred Scarf from Aritzia again…
