New Year's Eve Style
December 27, 2011 • 8:00 am
With New Year’s Eve coming up this Saturday I know a lot of you fabulous gals will be hitting the town in your glitziest gear. Some style tips I like to remember when dressing for the occasion are:
1. Don’t go matchy-matchy
Unexpected color combinations and varied textures make an outfit interesting, unique and current. Try a combination you normally might overlook!
2. Inject Color
New Year’s Eve is usually a sea of black, gold and silver. While I love these hues, it’s nice to inject an exciting pop of color into the mix. Try pairing bright heels or a colorful clutch with your dress.
3. Mix patterns and textures
This goes hand-in-hand with avoiding looks that are too “matched.” Try a chunky knit scarf with a sequined dress or a patterned clutch to add some interest. And don’t be afraid to mix your patterns - just stay within the same color family and combine patterns of varied sizes (like leopard + plaid).
Here are some outfits I put together for some NYE inspiration:

Look 1: Alice + Olivia Lucille Beaded Bustier Tier Dress, Liberty London Santi Zigzag Sequin Clip Clutch, Dorothy Perkins Green Platform Peep Toe Shoes
Look 2: Topshop Rainbow Lurex Cross Back Dress, Anya Hindmarch Marano Glitter Box Clutch, Women's Front Bow High Heel Platform Court Shoes
Look 3: Jane Norman Low Back Sequin Dress, Betsey Johnson Evening Leopard Tin Clutch, Vince Camuto Jenks Bootie
Look 4: Forever Unique Gold Embellished Corset Neck Dress, Jigsaw Clutch Bag with Sequins and Beads, Christian Louboutin Banana 140 Shoes
Which look is your favorite? Also, what are your NYE plans?!
