As you know, the past couple of years I have been lucky enough to design the PNE Prize Home here in B.C… tickets to win the home are on sale now, and I’ll tell you how to get them AFTER we go over this amazing kitchen. I’ll be the first person to design a kitchen using crisp white cabinetry with bright coloured accent pieces to pull everything together, but in this space, there is enough natural light from the windows and patio doors to make the dark cabinetry look stunning! Even the builders were a bit leary about my choices to mix and match dark with light & brass and chrome… but in the end, it ended up being everyone’s favourite room in the home. The pop of white for the island ties the kitchen together for a good balance of dark versus light. For brighter colors that are easily interchangeable – accent pieces are PERFECT! Think, seasonal flowers, fresh fruit, and bright bowls… things that you can replace when you get that itch to switch!

What do you think of this kitchen? Are you bold enough for black cabinets?

Truly gorgeous kitchen...and yes, I'm bold enough!
Yep! I'm bold enough! Just in the middle of a kitchen reno now. We bought a 15 year old home and are gradually replacing all things honey oak! Our kitchen has very similar cabinets (a black distressed heirloom finish) with lennon granite - very excited to pick backsplash and accessorize now :) Question: where can you get those barstools? I am on the look out for them but price is a factor kind of. I am in Saskatchewan.
