5 Tips for an Innovative Laundry Room

Morning everyone!! Today I want to share 5 tips for an innovative laundry room with you. I know how daunting it can be having to do so much laundry on the daily so when we were planning our reno I wanted to create a laundry room that was not only functional but also a space that made me WANT to do laundry rather than feeling like I HAD to do laundry! LOL! That’s achievable, right?? LOL!!

Well, I’m proof that it actually is, I mean, laundry is certainly more manageable now than it has been for me in the past thanks to a few specific things I considered when renovating our laundry room! But … before I share them with you, I also wanted to let you know that I’ve got some amazing news for my Canadian follower’s thanks to Persil! I’ve recently teamed up with Persil to give ONE lucky winner a chance to win a year’s supply of Persil laundry detergent (it smells the BEST) PLUS a laundry room makeover valued at up to $20,000 … ummmm … hello!! Make sure to click here for all the details, but don’t forget to come back and check out my tips! LOL.

Okay, back to the blog, whether or not you’re that lucky winner (my fingers are crossed for you!), here are a few tips of mine to help you achieve the laundry room of your dreams!!

1. Counter Space

In my laundry room, I made sure to add as much counter space as humanly possible so there was tons of room for folding clothes! There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to get your laundry done on a cramped counter … if that’s the case, typically my clean clothes would end up sitting in the laundry basket then dumped on my bed for folding. Now only folded clothes make their way into my room. LOL. Talk about stress release.

2. Drawers and Cabinets

When Justin and I were going over the plans for our reno we decided from the get go that we wanted to have LOTS of storage which included lots of drawers and cabinets in the laundry room. I have everything in my laundry room from my laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, gift wrapping necessities, and Nacho’s food and treats … this is one functional space thanks to all of these storage options!! And the best part … it’s ORGANIZED!!! Hallelujah!!

3. Long Rod to Dry Delicates

This is a serious game changer for me!! We have a long rod right next to our dryer that allows us to hang up any delicates to dry when we pull them out of the washing machine, this way they aren’t sitting around on your countertop or hanging in your closet wet! I will ALWAYS have this in my laundry room going forward!

4. Wheels on your Laundry Basket

Oddly enough my laundry basket is one of my favourite things, it’s super cute (obviously … lol … heaven forbid I get one I don’t like … LOL!!) but you really know you’ve hit the laundry basket jackpot when you get one that looks good and is FUNCTIONAL. My laundry basket has wheels on the bottom that make it easy to roll around and drop things off, and collect things around the house!

5. Innovative Laundry Detergent

I went back and forth when it came to laundry detergent because I wasn’t super picky about which one I used until Persil contacted me. I hadn’t used their laundry detergent before (A little fact I didn’t know about Persil: They are available in more than 60 countries, Persil only launched in Canada last year. It’s also the #1 laundry detergent in several European countries.) so I wanted to give it a try and I’ve gotta say, I’m really happy I did!! Not only does it leave our dirty clothes fresh and clean (goodbye Leo and Nacho stains … and the odd wine stain in there … lol) but it also smells seriously amazing!

I use their Pro10 formula (it’s new!!). Loving its range of benefits like powerful stain-fighting (ahem … Leo), whitening (you know how much I LOVE this … lol!!), odour fighting (cough Nacho cough), and much more. It comes in liquid and power caps and is available at most supermarkets, Walmart, Loblaws, Costco and Shoppers Drug Mart!

Oh, and make sure to swing by the contest page for your chance to win … but one catch, this is for Canadian residents only (sorry my American friends!!) … GOOD LUCK!!

  1. Do you know if Persil is cruelty-free and vegan? There doesn’t seem to be any information about this on their website, which leads me to think they sadly, are not. Hopefully I am wrong :).

  2. What is the paint color used on your laundry room cabinets ? It is very uplifting for a room that we all spend many hours in – love the accents of the gold hardware on the cabinetry too!

  3. I really enjoy your blog but I know you are concerned about the environment and unfortunately all the products you are showing in your laundry room are all toxic and very unfriendly to the environment and to our health. Having gone through cancer I am now much more aware of the products I use in my home and around my children. Please do your own research and if I’m wrong please let me know.

  4. Hi Jillian!

LOVE this!! That room would make me enjoy laundry I guarantee! Haha – great post 🙂

I just entered the contest! My LR is in desperate need!

  5. Love the ideas. Working on a custom build and deciding on appliances for the laundry room. What did you choose and how do you like them? They are tall!

  6. Hi Jillian,

I absolutely love the colour of your laundry room cabinets. Would you mind sharing the info?
I’m actually thinking of using it as a wall colour….. what do you think??
    Thanks, Regine

  7. Hi Jillian!!!! Love your laundry room and everything you do for that matter!!! Can you share what your countertops are??? Thank you!

  8. Hi Jillian, I love your cabinet hardware pulls and knobs. Would you be able to let me know what they are? Thanks so much!

  9. Your laundry room is beautiful! Can you please share the paint color of your cabinets?

    Many thanks,
    Martha

  10. Your laundry room is gorgeous! Mines about to get a makeover. Could you tell me the color you used on the cabinets?
