I have loved body scrubs for years … I think it’s even safe to say that I’m OBSESSED with them. There’s just something about using scrubs that make me feel like I’m completely pampering myself … like a mini spa day, in the comfort of my own home! Now, having said that, I AM a bit picky about what kinds of scrubs I use … I’m not a huge fan of sugar scrubs because I feel like as SOON as you bring them into the shower they melt, so I typically like to stick to salt scrubs!
If I have an upcoming vacation booked I like to exfoliate in the weeks leading up to my vacation, I find that it helps my skin look fresh and dewy and it feels so soft and supple … I’m even certain it helps reduce the appearance of cellulite too!! I’m no Doctor but … scrubs also help with your lymphatic system, improving your circulation and unclogging pores! Also, I’m sure Jamie would agree that taking this “Me Time” in the shower is a HUGE plus for your Parasympathetic Nervous System (read about the importance of “Me Time” here!) …
Anyway … I have tested out a TON of scrubs in my day and I found one that not only smells insanely good but it also works wonders for my skin … the only downfall is it’s a WHOPPING $49 for 12oz and nobody’s got time for THAT! LOL!! So, I was determined to re-create this scrub on my own and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally scratched this off of my to-do list and can’t WAIT to share this little DIY with you so you can get scrubbin’ …
My Everyday Invigorating Scrub
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Himalayan Sea Salt
- 1/2 cup Young Living Canada Enhanced V6 Vegetable Oil Complex
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Glycerin
- 20 drops of Young Living Canada Eucalyptus Globulus Essential Oil
- 15 drops of Young Living Canada Lavender Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Young Living Canada Peppermint Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Young Living Canada Neroli Essential Oil (Just enough to soften the scent)
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Divide into desired containers.
- Get in the shower and get scrubbin!!
I’m so pleased with my little creation … it smells EXACTLY like my favourite scrub and it’s a fraction of the price!! Also, I’m super excited to have been able to test out the Young Living Canada essential oils in this DIY, I’ve been a big lover of essential oils ever since I can remember and I’ve been hearing SO MUCH about them lately so when they approached me to give them a try I was excited to include them in this little experiment of mine and so far I’m loving them!!
If you haven’t heard about Young Living Canada yet … (where have you been?? under a rock?? LOL … just kidding!!), let me give you a quick little run down! They own their own farms, and manage the entire cultivation process from planting, growing, and harvesting, to distilling AND bottling of their essential oil to ensure the highest level of quality and purity in their products. Actually, here’s a fun fact … they have a farm right here in CANADA!! It’s their Northern Lights Farm in Fort Nelson, BC and this farm, in particular, supplies their Northern Lights Black Spruce Essential Oil!! Cool hey?! This might call for a little field trip … lol!
Okay, back to the scrub … you can also get creative with this scrub and swap out the essential oils for a completely different scent … vanilla cinnamon, perhaps?? Also, this scrub is the perfect little homemade gift to giveaway this upcoming holiday season! All you need are some cute jars, and some string and labels to give them their finishing touch!
Alright … let’s move on to the other DIY!! Essential Oil Wipes!! Most wipes, EVEN the most gentle of them all still tend to have chemicals in them which I really dislike but I STILL use them, especially when we are on the go. However, there is an AWESOME (and ridiculously easy) way to make baby and household wipes that are chemical FREE!! Not only are they super cost effective but they also smell UNREAL thanks to the essential oils!!
Let’s take a look …
Essential Oil Wipes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 roll of paper towels (cut a full roll in half)
- 1.5 cups of water
- 1/2 tablespoon Castile soap
- 1/2 tablespoon fractioned coconut oil
- 2 drops Young Living Canada Lavender Essential Oil
- 2 drops of Young Living Canada Tea Tree Essential Oil
Directions:
- Place 1/2 roll of paper towel into a plastic Tupperware container.
- Mix all of the ingredients together.
- Pour mixture over the paper towel in Tupperware container.
- Let sit.
- Shake and use to clean hands and face!
How great are those DIYs?? I felt like I hit the jackpot with them! LOL! Also, when Leo is sick I like to add Thieves Essential Oil (a combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils) to his diffuser or Eucalyptus Essential Oil. If he isn’t sick and I just want him to get a relaxing night’s sleep then I add Lavender Essential Oil to it. They seriously work wonders!!!
Do you use Young Living Canada essential oils?? If so, what are your favourite oils and how do you use them?? Comment below!
xo
Jilly
Thank you Young Living Canada for sponsoring this post. All comments and opinions are my own.
Peace and calming (4drops) & Lavender (3drops) at night in the diffuser. KNOCKED OUT COLD!! best sleep ever 🙂
LOVE IT!! XOXO
What humidifier do you use?
I tried this combo last night… AMAZING! Thank you!! =)
Made my own lip balm from rosemary and peppermint. It takes 5 minutes to make about 20 tubes. Slap a cute lil label on there and they make a great lil extra for those swag bags, present, stocking etc! I used to use Burt’s bees, but these new diy balms cost about .50 to make!!
OMMGGGG Jenna!!! This is amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing!! XOXO
I love love love young living essential oils!
I love Young Living essential oils! I’ve been using them since 2015. Hard to pick a favorite, Peace and Calming for sure but Peppermint is one that I try to have in my purse, it’s great for so many things! Love the recipes, I just might give them a try 🙂
I JUST got my starter kit yesterday and can’t wait to actually start using the oils! I need some recipes tho ! ?
Yes!! We use our oils for EVERYTHING!!! For wellness, cleaning, in recipes, diffused in the air – everything!! That scrub sounds amazing, I’m totally going to have to try your recipe. Thanks!!
Hi Jillian!
Yes, I do use Young Living Canada essential oils!
I love the versatility the oils offer for our everyday needs. My favourite DIY is my peppermint lavender lip balm, I also love adding different oils to bath salts and use that for a relaxing bath. My favourite oil has to be THIEVES, specially this time of year to diffuse and prevent those nasty colds. I love Young Living so much that I left a 9 year career in the new home industry to build my own Young Living business (I studied interior design while living in Europe)
In health and wellness,
Sylvie
Loveeeeee my young living essential oils!! My favourite blends are
*Idaho blue spruce and orange. (To beat winter blues)
*lavender cedarwood northern lights black spruce ( for sleeping )
* peace and calming to relax in the evening.
Hello, Sounds amazing. I am just wondering where I would find vegetable glycerin? Thanks so much!
Ashley
Hi Ashley!! I found it at Choices!! xoxo
Jillian and team! I am an avid oil user and love this post!
MY QUESTION: What is the thingy on the wall in your shower! I am researching like a mad woman to find all of the best things for a new house build for our family and want to make sure I look into all sorts of technological items too!
Thank you, Lynne
Love my Young Living Essential oils – I like to diffuse Eucalyptus in my room at bedtime to help with my sinus issues – also love Deep Relief for after workouts.
I’m curious to know why you picked YL over doterra?
Thanks
My 13 yr old daughter made a roller of perfume with grapefruit, lavender, orange and lemon. It smells amazing!! She loves it and all her friends have been asking her to make some for them!
Hi Marilyn! Just curious about the spritzer recipe your 13yr old made. Did she add distilled water and how many drops of each was used. I have a 13yr and thinking of making this for her. Thanks ?
Love love love young living! Have used them for years. I was just wandering if you have ever used Meleleuca products as they are household safe products
Love doing DIY with YL essential oils! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. Essential oils all day everyday!
Hi Jill!
Any suggestions on where to get Himalayan pink salt either in bulk or thats relatively cheap?! Everywhere I find it its soo expensive.
Thanks xo
Rachel
Bulk barn!! xo
Yes girl!! My daughter’s (7 and 4) and I have loved watching you for a couple years now. When my oldest and I came across this blog we were thrilled! When you were pregnant with Leo, my oldest daughter said one night after watching Love it or List it; “I hope Jill has a chemical free home and uses Young Living one day!” lol… Needless to say we are excited for you and if you haven’t yet, go get yourself some Valor and Stress Away 😉 xo
My cousin recently started selling it. She introduced them to me because I have numerous health issues. So far, I have tried an allergy recipe, a sleep recipe, and a headache recipe. I have noticed a difference in all of them I have tried so far. I have allergies to numerous fragrances but so far so good.
Hi Great post! There’s and essential oil for everything love young living. They even have oils for pets and kids ?
I make my own household wipes with YL product. Just warm water and Theives cleaner. It’s all I use around my house. Counters, appliances etc. Cleaning shutters Everything. Same concept. Half a roll good paper towel and I have a special container that you put the roll in and they come out just like wipes.
I use Young Living Essential Oils, Idaho Balsam Fir, Lavender and Cedarwood in my Diffuser at night. Amazing sleep now. Check out Young Living’s Desert Mist Diffuser now available in Canada!! My favourite! Love your recipes posted here.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Young Living’s Joy blend!!
We use Young Living’s oils at home, work, and now with my car diffuser too! I have been brainstorming ideas for custom blends and recipes as Christmas presents. I am very excited to now include this body scrub recipe!
Thank you for sharing!
Young Living Oils are awesome! When my teen daughters were at camp this past summer their friends were coming to them saying… do you have an oil for headaches, cramps, sore leg (I packed an SOS tote of oils that really got used) For my little guy just a tad older than Leo, I’ve used Gentle Baby blend almost every night of his life in the diffuser haha Give that one a try 🙂 And check out the Young Living Canadian Holiday Catelogue It just came out!
I want to hear all about favorite smells.

My comment didn’t transfer… just my email ? I just wanted to say that you should never put YL oils in a plastic container as the oils eats into the plastic pitting it and putting chemicals into what you’ve made
Totally obsessed with making a Rollerball that has peppermint, frankincense, and lavender with a little ho ho ba oil. It is the 10 Minute Miracle for headaches.
Seeing this blog post made my day!
I got involved with essential oils when my son was about 6 months old and totally agree with you about them making a huge difference in our day to day routine. Something you should check out is making your own DIY diaper rash cream for his nursery. Obviously Young Living offers one in their Seedlings line (which I use in my diaper bag) but because it’s not the cheapest stuff offered, I started making my own for home use.
Diaper Rash Cream Directions
Coconut oil & lavender oil [ 2 tbsp coconut oil :: 1 drop lavender oil ratio ] // you can make as much or as little as you need // I use a small pyrex glass container, scoop my coconut oil in, place in small pan and slightly fill with water. Once it’s melted, drop in your lavender – made sure the essential oil is mixed in and let it cool.
Not only does it smell amazing or contain zero harmful toxins, but it saves you SoOoOo much money and doesn’t leave that sticky, pasty feeling on your hands after application.
Can’t wait to try both of these DIYs – any recommendation on how coarse the salt should be for the scrub? Thanks again Jillian!
Hi. I’m all for essential oils as they are amazing. However, they are powerful & medicinal. Peppermint & eucalyptus are both very dangerous for small children. They can impact breathing. I don’t want to alarm you & I’m not wanting to be rude by telling you but I just want to make sure your sweetheart and other little ones reading this are safe. My friend is a certified aromatherapist & has been studying for years- that is where my info is from.
I just wanted to add that I really enjoy reading your blog & I will be trying this scrub recipe for myself 🙂 thank you!
I love that you’re getting into oils. Young Living is my absolute favorite and the best. I’ve used other ones and they are so much more effective than anything else. The stress away oil is the most incredible smelling and relaxing one. I have been gradually collecting for over a year and I love using them for everything!
Love Young Living. I have replaced all the harmful chemicals in my home. Now they have makeup , so thats next, along with all the fabulous oils of course.
Jillian is that black POV on Leis shelf pictured your diffuser?? I tried to zoom to see the brand.. where is it from?
*pod
*Leo’s
Always proof read.. am I right!?
Hi Jillian,
I just recently started using essential oils in my laundry soap. I few drops of bergamot and lavender helps naturally scent boost my linens. Also, when I’m travelling a place a few drops of my chosen scent with a carrier oil (to make it last) on make up pads, throw them in a breathable bag and place it next to my pillow to help with sleep.
Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe!
Colleen, expat in Marin county.
Thanks for sharing! Love trying new uses for my essential oils.
1 drop Vetiver, 2 Bergamot, 2 lemon. I rub this on my inside arm crease very grounding. & I just bought a cork bracelet that I rub the oils into. Smells so good!
Hi Jillian,
Can you share the salt scrub you used that was $49?
Thank you!
Can’t wait to make this!
On a side note..I saw a rug/mat on your insta stories..I think maybe from in your master bathroom?? Beige/with fushia pink vintage distress markings in it and fringed edges..and would love to know where it is from!!?? It’s so lovely!
Thanks!!
Put a few drops of lavender on wool dryer ball, no more chemical filled dryer sheets to get the great smell!
Along with the dryer balls and essential oil, I add 2 pieces of aluminum foil (positive and negative) crumpled in balls to remove static 🙂
Hi Jillian, I love your recipe for the Body scrub. I am wondering if you had another idea for an oil instead of the Neroli oil. It’s super expensive and would still love to make the scrub. Do you think it would still be good if i left it out? would love your thoughts.
Ahhh!!!! I’m so excited you are using Young Living Essential Oils!!! I have been using them for over a decade and absolutely love them. And I just adore you, so this makes my heart so happy ☺️ I can’t live without lavender, peppermint, and orange (my “happy” scent that reminds me of home growing up in Florida), and some clary sage for my female “time” of the month ?
Hi Jill! I’m thinking about making the body scrub for a bunch of my girlfriends for Christmas… How many jars will your recipe make do you think? Wondering for ordering purposes. Thanks
Mine made two jars!!!
Thanks for this recipes Jillian. I’d love to try making this but can you share where did you order the Himalayan sea salt? ?❤️
Curious: I can’t use the V6. Would you use more vegetable glycerin, or swap out for another carrier oil. Maybe grapeseed oil?
Hi Jill! Great DIY ideas. For the scrub, did you use pink salt crystals (the little cubes) or did you grind them? The pictures looks like the salt has been ground up but it could have just dissolved in the oil. I’m excited to try it out!
We LOVE using essential oils all over our home, too! We use the Young Living line as well – I have never come across oils that are so pure and potent.
I have made a similar scrub (so good!), lip balms, a face serum (it’s amaaaazing – posted here: https://thesweetestdigs.com/homemade-face-serum-recipe/), beard oil for hubby, hand and body wash, and so much more!! It’s amazing to make your own stuff and know exactly what’s going into each product. No toxic chemicals!
Looking forward to seeing more posts like these 🙂
xo, gemma
Oh my god. Them oils changed my life!
-Thieves mixed in coconut oil for my son’s teething (apply directly on gum!) & also to diffuse when we get sick. Also leave the bottle open next to you as you cut onions to stop the tears from coming down!!
-SleepyIze in the diffuser for night time (for baby Liam)
-Digize under tongue for diarrhea, constipation or ANYTHING digestive issues related. For baby, mummy & daddy & even our two bulldogs
-Mix of Lavender, Bergamot & Orange at night for mum & dad sleep!
-Lemon to add to water (cause sometimes i get tired of drinking water that tastes “water”!)
-Raven (because it smells like Vicks & it’s amazing!)
-Christmas Spirit, because anything that smells like Christmas makes me soooo happy
-Lavender for baby bug bites, or any cuts. Or even on dryer wool balls to avoid the chemicals of dryer sheets!
-Peppermint on temple & neck for headaches
-Purification on a cotton ball for the Diapers trash because it can get stinky in there!
-Ningxia liquid wellness (1oz every day of tons of very fruity fruits!) for energy & supplements that we all need to go through our crazy days!
I can go on and on about it! Please please please get into it & you can come up with AMAZING stuff that are sooo much healthier for baby Leo & you guys!!! <3
Oh! & your black diffuser is AMAZING! I got the same one which i LOVE. And now looking for the Aria one which is SOOOOOOO pretty as well!
Okay i'm done! :-X
THESE ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! XOXO

LOL! )
Hi Jill!
Wondering if the vegtable oil AND vegtable glycerin are both necessary?
