Lately, I’ve come across so many amazing clothing companies who are not only make amazing clothes but who are also doing some amazing things when it comes to sustainability. So, in honour of Earth Month, I’m rounding up all of my favourite finds and sharing a little bit about what makes them so special!
Everlane
If you’ve never heard about Everlane and you love great quality basics, you’re in for a treat! At Everlane, they are working to do their part by building an ethical supply chain that creates high-quality, low-impact, long-lasting products.
Faithfull The Brand
Faithfull The Brand is one of my all-time favourite shops to score beautiful summer dresses. Faithfull the Brand is a B Corporation certified company. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance both profit and purpose.
Girlfriend Collective
I just order a cropped tee and leggings from Girlfriend Collective and let me tell you… they are SO COMFY! Plus, they make their activewear with materials that would otherwise clog landfills and pollute the earth. It all starts with 100% post-consumer water bottles that have their labels removed, are crushed into billions of minuscule chips, and then washed until they’re sparkling clean.
Levi’s
Levi’s have been around forever, and they truly have such classic and timeless pieces. One of their goals is to become a more sustainable clothing brand. They’ve made some great strides in some areas and we’re pushing ourselves to do better in others, but we’re in it for the long haul. To read more about their sustainability initiatives, click here!
Reformation
Reformation is another great company to shop for great dresses! In fact, I have an exciting blog coming up in the next few months featuring one of them… keep your eyes peeled! They “make effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure and pioneer sustainable practices, focusing on people and progress each step of the way.”
Alohas
If you haven’t heard of Alohas yet, you’re going to be so happy you did! Alohas are made in Spain, and all of their shoes are beautiful and timeless. Plus, their on-demand business model helps the planet by creating zero waste, reducing carbon emissions, fighting overproduction, and using eco-friendly and plant-based leathers!
Sézane
Sézane is a company operating out of Paris and they offer all women luxury quality at a fair and accessible price. The cherry on top? Not only do they use eco-friendly materials, but they are also a B Corporation Certified company!
Ten Tree
I’m sure most of you know about Ten Tree by now, but for those of you that don’t they make “Earth-First essentials”. They use the most sustainable (and comfortable) materials in the world and every time you purchase an item, they plant 10 trees.
Huha
Last but certainly not least is a local Vancouver company, Huha! If the name didn’t give it away, they specialize in women’s undies! Their breathable underwear are made from super soft tree-derived fabrics. These award-winning fibers are derived from sustainably managed forests and/or made from FSC certified wood.
As Earth Month is coming to a close, it’s important to try and shop sustainably when we can! Ten Tree said it best “We believe that big change starts small. Small as in bringing your reusable tote to the grocery store, making fewer, more thoughtful purchases, and choosing to purchase sustainably when you do. These small choices add up (trust us, we’ve done the math) and we’re here to celebrate each and every one of them.”
Happy Earth Month!
Jilly
Thank you for sharing. I wasn’t familiar with some of these companies . I try to buy sustainable products
whenever I possibly can. But I have to be honest, it’s hard because “sustainable” is often not affordable. I do what I can within my tight budget. I wish all things sustainable were more accessible to everyone.
