As some of you know, I have been trying to reduce my leather, wool, and animal consumption in general for almost a year now. I must say that I am NOT perfect by any means and I am learning something new every day. I have a long way to go still but I think that every little thing and every little step that you take helps.
If you aren’t quite ready to make the switch over quite yet … that is totally fine! I believe that everyone should move at their own pace and make their own deicsions that work best for them and they’re lifestyle. One of the reasons that I love Poppy Barley so much is because of the way that their boots are ethically made in Mexico. I truly respect the girls behind the brand and love the fact that they have researched to the bitter end to find a factory that they love and trust so that we don’t need to do the research.
I know that this topic is extremely controversial. BUT … if you are buying leather I think it’s important to invest in good products where their products are made as ethically as possible. I do believe that if you are trying to reduce your animal consumption like I am, quality over quantity is VERY important. I know that these boots are an investment but they will last you much longer than a pair that is made in “fast production” at a much cheaper price. Instead of buying 1 pair of boots every year, you will be buying 1 pair of boots every 5 years … if that!!! Not to mention they are SO comfortable because they invest in the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. I like to call them boots that are made for the “busy woman” that doesn’t have time to have sore feet.
