I’m going to let you in on the secrets of my absolutely FAVOURITE childhood fall dessert that my mommy used to make me for as a pick-me-up if I was ever feeling down. It is absolutely the quintessential fall comfort food – and I can say from experience is that it really does give a tonne of comfort!! And as a glass-half-full kinda gal, I like to think of it as a “healthy” dessert too… oats &apples are healthy, right??
Treat yourself on a whim to this yummy dessert, or make a big batch for a dinner party ahead of time and pop in the oven apres dinns, but make sure try my mama’s “famous” baked apple dessert and let me know what you think!!
Recipe
Ingredients
2 BC Tree Fruits Macintosh apples
2 TBSP of melted butter
1/4 cup of oats
1 tsp vanilla
4 TBSP of brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
4 TBSP of crushed pecans
Topping
1 dads cookie (crumbled)
1 TBSP melted butter
Optional
Vanilla Ice Cream
Caramel Sauce
Directions
It’s really pretty easy! Just hollow out the apple, mix all of the above ingredients, stuff the apple with the ingredients, add the topping, and bake at 400 until bubbling and browned. Remove, let cool for 5 minutes, and add ice cream and caramel sauce if you wish and ENJOY! (alternatives or additions: raisins, coconut, coconut oil instead of butter)
It really is SOOOOOO easy and quick and a freaking FALL LOVING PARTY in your mouth! Nestle in and chow down!!
