Grapefruit Rosemary Fros-eh

Well hello there my loves!! I figured July long weekend would be the PERFECT time to share an amazing Fros-eh recipe!! If you’re sitting there thinking “what in the world is FROS-EH?!” … OMG … where have you been?? It’s basically the best thing since SLICED BREAD!! It’s frozen rose … AKA an adult slushie!! You may have caught my recipe testing over on my Instagram stories the other day … but if you didn’t, I went back and forth on a few different recipes and I ended up perfecting two of them! One is this one, the Grapefruit Rosemary Fros-eh and the other one … well, I’m making you hold out for that one!! LOL!!

So as I was making these “adult slushies” I was thinking to myself … would I ACTUALLY make these again?? Is it worth the time?? And after a little taste test and coming to the realization that these can be kept in the freezer and busted out on a hot summer day when guests “pop in for a visit” they, in fact, ARE worth the time!! Not only do they look super impressive but they also taste like boozy goodness! LOL!! I’m totally planning on whipping these out when my girls come to visit this weekend … HOPEFULLY, we can be sipping on these poolside this Canada Day weekend! FINGERS CROSSED!!!!

Ok, let’s get to the good stuff …

Grapefruit Rosemary Fros-eh
Ingredients:

  • 3 grapefruits juiced (If you’re super stressed or busy, spare yourself the juicing and just go buy grapefruit juice! LOL!)
  • The pulp of 1 grapefruit
  • 1tbsp grapefruit rind
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle of Okanagan Crush Pad Narrative Rose
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary loosely chopped (just enough to open up the aromas)

Method:

1. Juice three grapefruits, save pulp from 1 grapefruit, set aside. (If you have a juicer bonus but if you don’t, I like to hand squeeze. Ps. If you live in the desert and have a grapefruit tree, I’m jealous!)

2. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of water to a small pot for the simple syrup. Bring to boil then simmer until mixture starts to thicken. Turn heat off and let sit to thicken further.

3. Once the simple syrup STARTS to thicken add roughly 1tbsp of grapefruit rind along with 2 sprigs of chopped rosemary. Let your simple syrup sit to cool and infuse with the flavours. (If your simple syrup isn’t thickening add more sugar and be patient!)

4. Once your simple syrup is cooled, strain, and add strained syrup to grapefruit juice. (Make SURE your simple syrup is cool before adding it to the grapefruit juice, you don’t want to end up with grapefruit candy! LOL! If you’re impatient you can add the grapefruit juice or Okanagan Crush Pad Narrative Rose to the simple syrup little by little to cool it down right away.)

5. Combine the bottle of Okanagan Crush Pad Narrative Rose and grapefruit juice and simple syrup. (You can add the simple syrup mixture to taste if you like but make sure to add a bit more than you think because when it freezes it doesn’t taste as sugary!)

6. Transfer the mixture to a pan and add the grapefruit pulp. Stir gently. (Because there’s so much water in the pulp it helps keep it frozen longer!)

Pro Tip: Add a sprig of rosemary or grapefruit slices to the mixture prior to freezing for a pretty presentation!

7. Place the pan in the freezer and freeze for at about 4-6 hours.

8. Once frozen, scoop out and fill your favourite glasses with the Grapefruit Rosemary Fros-eh. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary.

9. Grab a seat on your patio and ENJOY!!!

  1. If you’re substituting bottled juice for the fresh squeezed grapefruits, how much juice should be used?

  2. Yum! I am making a batch now, just wondering if it’s 1/2 cup sugar and water or 1 cup? The instructions and ingredients say both. You’re the best! 🙂

    1. LOL!!! We were just checking to see if you were paying attention … and you got a GOLD STAR!! LOL!!! Stick with 1/2 cup of each!! Enjoy!! XOXOXO

      1. Turned out so good! Not only was it delicious but it made my house smell amazing ? 10 gold stars for you haha!

    1. I would say 1/2 cup but add it in to taste! If you like it sweet, use the full 1/2 cup, if you like it more on the tart side use less! XOXO

  3. I had told my husband I wanted to make this and he showed up at home with all the ingredients and we made it. It was excellent. We also watched this week’s Jillian and Justin; my husband under protest but Justin and Nacho had him laughing. Thanks for an enjoyable evening.

  4. I just made these yesterday! They turned out fantastic!! I used the Tantalus Rose…
Thank you very much for the recipe! making a second batch now to have in the freezer!!
