I can’t tell you how excited I am for Winter this year and our slight change in pace for the upcoming holiday season! Last year, I feel as though I went head first into full-blown Christmas mode. I made a DIY advent calendar for the kids, decorated every single room in our house, I shopped, wrapped and cooked right up until Christmas Eve when I finally started to slow down. It was absolutely magical but I was exhausted.
I was so consumed by the DIY calendar that I would stay up until at least 3 am some nights trying to pull it all off, Justin told me multiple times that I needed to tone it down next year. Well, here we are and I think I just might take some of his advice this year and slightly pump the breaks on my Christmas addiction! LOL! To be honest, by the time Christmas rolled around, the magic of Christmas day was a month-long instead for Leo and Annie. They weren’t complaining, but this year we are rolling with the chocolate advent calendars and that’s it. π π»ββοΈ
If you watched my Instagram stories on Monday, you know that we have already decorated the house for Christmas, but that is about as full-out as I’ll get for Christmas this year… famous last words? So, with that being said, I thought I would share some of the items on my 2021 Winter Bucket List. I’ll warn you in advance, it’s not that thrilling, but I am so looking forward to just taking it easy this holiday season!
My 2021 Winter Bucket List
1. Prep during November
I can hardly believe that it’s already November! This month I am hoping to tackle as much of the Christmas prep as possible, so I don’t have to worry about it during December. And thanks to Team Jilly, our house is pretty much all decorated and ready to go.
2. Take the pressure off
This holiday season is going to be so different than any other holiday and I’m really excited about it. We will actually be traveling before the holidays and are planning to celebrate Christmas early with a Mai Tai in hand! π We will be back for Christmas day and the only thing I need to make sure of is that all of the Christmas presents are ordered ahead of time (hello shipping delays!) and that they are all wrapped and ready to go.
3. Eat healthy and exercise
Somehow this ends up on my bucket list almost every season, but I can never manage to follow through on this one… wine and carbs are my kryptonite! All joking aside, while we are on holiday, I’m hoping that I can prioritize a few healthy meals and a little bit of exercise, whether that’s swimming in the pool or going for a nice long walk along the beach.
4. Relax
When we get back home, we have about a week before Christmas. During this time, I am really just hoping to relax, spend as much time off of my phone, and be present making those fun holiday memories.
5. Celebrate
My birthday is a week after Christmas and I am happy to report that I don’t have any plans for it. I’m looking forward to ringing in my 42nd trip around the sun in style on the couch … with a glass of wine in hand, of course π.
So there you have it, my winter bucket list is on the tame side this year. But I am looking forward to kicking back, relaxing and making precious memories with my sweet little fam! I’d love to know what’s on YOUR bucket list for the remainder of 2021?
