Here Are My Top 2022 New Years Resolutions!


I used to be a fan of New Year’s resolutions, but after (or, I guess during) the pandemic I feel like I am simply just trying to stay afloat. Don’t get me wrong, I think resolutions are great for trying to improve poor habits, keep ourselves accountable and tackle dreams, but gone are the days of the mile-long to-do lists of things we want to change about ourselves … spoiler-alert, they never work anyways (for me, at least! LOL).

However, after Justin and I watched Eva Shockey’s Instagram stories about her New Year’s resolutions, we were totally inspired. It’s funny because we came across them while we were stuck in the car and I personally can’t think of a better time to brainstorm family and personal goals/resolutions then when you are stuck in traffic with nowhere to go. So, that’s exactly what we did! LOL!

Now, before I share them with you, I want to mention here that we have the best intentions of sticking to these “goals” however, I would like to admit to you right now, that we have failed about 90% of these already. 😂 However, the important thing to remember is, just because you already failed doesn’t mean you need to give up, just try again and keep going the best you can.💕

Personal & Health Goals

1. Workout at least 3 times a week

As I’m sitting here writing this blog, I’ve already failed at my first resolution … working out at least 3 times a week! LOL! I woke up at about 5 am this morning and could have definitely hopped on my Peloton and got in a quick 15 min bike ride, but I didn’t. Instead, I decided to catch up on emails. Note to self; ride the Peloton first and THEN answer emails. I’ll try again tomorrow! 😅

2. Eat a primarily plant-based diet

For those of you that have followed me for a while may know that a few years ago I was on a strictly plant-based diet for a couple of years. Then, when I was pregnant with Annie, I started to crave some meat again and fell off the wagon slightly. For the most part, we are still eating a pescatarian diet, except when it comes to pizza night! LOL!

3. Read one “fun” book a month

The world has been so heavy for the last few years and it’s everywhere you look; the news, social media, etc. When I was in Maui I brought “Where The Crawdad Sings” with me and I so enjoyed reading it. So, I’m challenging myself to read one fun book a month!

Family Goals

1. 6 PM dinners on school nights

Usually, dinner time involves the kiddos eating their dinner on the island watching TV and they absolutely love it, but this year we’ve opted for family dinners instead … and, I’m here to report that the kids hate it! LOL! But, I honestly love it. I love the one-on-one time with our little family and I feel so much more supported when it comes to prepping dinner and cleaning up.

2. 1 outdoor activity with the kids a week

For the majority, if not all of the kid’s life (that they remember!), has been during a pandemic, which means staying inside, and spending more time than I would like to admit on their iPads. So, this year we are making a commitment to getting in at least 1 outdoor activity a week for them. Whether that’s snowboarding, public skating, sledding at the farm, or whatever else comes our way!

3. 30 minute family check-in

Now that Leo and Annie are both in school full-time I feel like it’s important for us as a family to have weekly check-ins to see how they are doing. Again, this isn’t something that they love doing, but the more we make this a priority the more I think they will enjoy it.

Career & Professional Goals

1. Read one professional development book a month

While it’s important for me to read one fun book a month, I would also love to read a professional development book a month too. My goal is to continue learning and growing as a leader, in a way I feel like The Jilly Academy plateaued me, but I need to keep going and become inspired by other leaders paving the way!

2. Book 1 on 1 lunches with Team Jilly

Back in 2020 and the beginning of 2021 I booked 1 on 1 lunches with all of our Team Jilly members to check-in and see how they were doing. I found this to be such a great time to sit down and get to know each one of them on a deeper level. If you are a leader and looking for a new way to bond with your team I would highly recommend incorporating this into your team bonding mix.

3. Continue to refine my schedule

My schedule and time-blocking is a never-ending project! LOL! This year I really want to focus on streamlining this so I can carve out more time to really get creative and overall to become a better leader.

On a goal-setting note, if you really want to set yourself up for success make sure the goal you are setting are SMART; specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely.

Well other than that, I don’t have any other resolutions or goals for 2022! I love a glass of wine at the end of the day and I’m not going to drink any less and ultimately at 42, I know who I am and know that some things are never going to change 😂
