How To Wine Tour: Part 2

At last … I am sharing Day 2 of the most amazing Wine Tour ever in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valley!!! What did you think of Part 1??? Did it make you want to get on the next plane and start touring yourself!? Well let me tell you … Day 2 just gets better and better. Although my liver may not like me that much … my heart and stomach were full of so much love (and wine)!! I want to go back again right now… A HUGE thank you to Wines of British Columbia for helping us girls organize everything and to their amazing trip planner… without it none of this would have ran as smoothly and efficiently as it did!! Get ready for Day 2 of our wine tour….

To start off Day 2 we woke up at Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort in Osoyoos. We had such a good sleep and were refreshed and ready to conquer even more vineyards!!! We had breakfast at Talon’s Restaurant … it was EXACTLY what the doctor ordered … and more!! Nothing beats a perfect eggs benny, fresh fruit and some perfectly cooked bacon to start your day!!Photo 2015-05-24, 8 34 43 AM

After our tummies were full we were picked up by Nixdorf Classic Cars which had awesome sirens from https://www.capfleetupfitters.com/code-3. If you are planning a wine tour with a bunch of girls I would HIGHLY recommend this!!!! First of all, you don’t have to drink and drive. Second of all, a convertible classic while cruising through God’s country??? … COME ON!!! Does it get any better than that!?!? Oh and our driver Jim … well Jim is just an absolute SWEETHEART and definitely made the trip worth while!Photo 2015-05-24, 9 09 50 AMPhoto 2015-05-24, 9 13 40 AMPhoto 2015-05-24, 11 03 16 AMPhoto 2015-05-24, 11 04 49 AM

Our first stop with Jim was at Seven Stones Winery. It is such a sad but incredible story … you will have to go for yourself to learn first hand about why they built their cellar caves. The caves include a fountain to raise humidity levels and reduce wine evaporation in the barrels (the evaporated wine is called the “Angels’ Share”) and marvellous acoustics for music – great for events, and maybe even for the wine. …. YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS WINE CAVE!!!!!Photo 2015-05-24, 11 27 48 AMIMG_2412 IMG_2642

Next up was Orofino Vineyards. They had the CUTEST golden retriever and of course some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted. I can’t even count on my fingers how many bottles I took home!!!Photo 2015-05-24, 10 11 36 AM

Then it was off to The Old Grist Mill. It was totally ADORABLE. So quaint and cute … I could have lived there!!! We had simple yet delicious food made out of local ingredients. It consisted of homemade apple juice, made from their home grown apples. And first of the season strawberries and shortcake. Yummmmm… I could go for some of that right now!!!IMG_2496Photo 2015-05-24, 1 21 29 PMPhoto 2015-05-24, 1 42 46 PM

Next up was Clos du Soleil. It means “enclosure of the sun”. The winery is currently under construction but that didn’t stop us girls from having a great time and enjoying every little drop of wine. It is scheduled to be completed in July and I can’t WAIT to go check out the final touches!!Photo 2015-05-24, 2 11 35 PM Photo 2015-05-24, 2 42 49 PM IMG_2530

Almost done I promise!!!!! This one was definitely a hidden gem….Intersection Estate Winery. They dry their grapes for 3 weeks in small crates to produce this delicious tasting wine called Apassimento. If you haven’t tried it this is a must try here…IMG_2453

Tinhorn Creek Vineyards was the last stop on the most AMAZING wine tour ever. I seriously can’t thank Wine BC enough for helping us girls get everything so organized. If you are wanting to plan a wine tour in the Okanagan I highly recommend using their trip planner. It saved our lives and made everything run so smoothly and efficiently as you can see. Well anyways, onto Tinhorn Creek!!!! They had yet again another incredibly stunning estate with an incredible restaurant called Miradoro. It was the perfect end to the perfect trip for us girls…our bellies were full of some yummy shrimp and delicious wine!!!IMG_2606 IMG_2622

Well…what did you think!? Is a wine tour on your summer bucket list!?!?! I hope you enjoyed my wine tour as much as I did!!!! Oh and CHEERS…..

  1. Hi Jillian – thank you so very much for visiting us and for writing your great blog about Similkameen Wine Country! Are you around on July 11th? We have our annual Similkameen BBQ King event, which is our signature wine and food event at the beautiful and historic Grist Mill and Gardens in Keremeos. Would you consider being a guest judge at the event?

  2. Jillian we were just there last week! Tinhorn, Road 13, Fairview Cellars and Burrowing Owl but look forward to going back and visiting some of these from your girls wine tour!! Thx so much!
