After Justin, Leo, Annie, and I got back from our trip to Disneyland, Leo was suddenly obsessed with all things Star Wars. I mean, how could he not be?! The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction felt like we were transported right out of Disneyland and onto the set of the movie! So it goes without saying when we returned home, all Leo could talk about was Star Wars this … and Star Wars that, which included a Star Wars themed bedroom update!
Much like his recent party theme request, I was stumped on how I was going to make his room “fit” within the aesthetics of our home! LOL! Even if his room looked like it was from a galaxy far far away, ultimately, if it helped him sleep through the night, I was all for it!
If you read my blog, Home Tour Series: Leo’s Bedroom and Bathroom, you will know that we originally designed his room with a safari theme in mind because, after all, we had a ton of lion decor gifted to us after he was born!
Check out the photos below for a quick peek at what his bedroom used to look like, to refresh your memory before the BIG REVEAL! LOL!
Star Wars Bedroom Reveal
I have to say that overall, this was a pretty seamless bedroom transformation! The most tedious task was removing all of the removable decals one by one. Once they were all off of the wall, we decided to paint the wall above the panelling with Cloverdale’s “In Good Taste 0505”! And while we’re on the topic of paint, the wall panelling is Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White OC-117”, and the ceiling is Cloverdale’s “Deep Lagoon 0507”.
I know, I know, you may be thinking why the heck did we paint the ceiling blue?! But, in true Star Wars fashion, we added the cutest little “glow” with stick-on stars to the ceiling to emphasize the galaxy theme!
“May The Force Be With You” Decor
It took me a couple of months to make sure that this room update was, in fact, something that Leo actually wanted! There is nothing worse than a child changing their minds every few seconds, am I right? LOL! So, once I knew that he was set on a Star Wars theme, I got to designing. Thankfully, Pottery Barn Kids was on the same wavelength and just released a line of children’s Star Wars decor items!! So before I even started to think about paint colours, I picked up a Star Wars sheet set, the BB-8 Droid beanbag chair, and May The Force Be with You throw pillow. For an extra pop of blue, I added the softest quilt from Flax Sleep at the end of his bed!
While we were in Disneyland, I made sure to pick up a few Star Wars toys, decor pieces, and memorabilia. We hung up a few of Leo’s lightsabers and added some of his Star Wars toys to keep on display!
Pro Tip: To all my fellow parents out there, if you ever go to Disneyland and have your eye on a particular item, buy it! LOL! You will not be able to purchase it online after … trust me!
The cherry on top? I had my bestie Kaitlin Hargreaves paint these stunning watercolour paintings of BB-8 Droid, a Stormtrooper, and R2D2! Her watercolour pieces are not only gorgeous, but they completed the look and brought everything together! If you are looking for a custom watercolour painting, look no further!
You might be able to tell from the before and after photos, but we decided to keep Leo’s yellow curtains from Q Design that were in his nursery! I love how well the various shades of blue complement the yellow curtains!
Furniture
When it comes to furniture, there wasn’t much that Leo needed, other than a new bed and a couple of nightstands! We purchased the Leo bed from The Cross Design and Decor. I genuinely love how timeless this bed frame is and the mid-century modern appeal. Even if he outgrows this themed bedroom (hopefully), he won’t outgrow this bed! Of course, since we had to upgrade his bed frame we also needed a new mattress! Leo’s Haven mattress is seriously the most comfortable bed in the entire house. What I love about Haven Sleep Co. is that they are a Canadian company and ALL of their mattresses are made in Canada!!
For those of you that read Leo and Annie’s sleep routine update, you will know that Justin and I have to read at least 3-5 books to Leo every night before he goes to bed. So, when I was thinking about the design of his nightstands, a particular layout came to mind, that could hold his favourite collection of books. Whenever I have a custom furniture idea in mind, I always reach out to Holly from The Shed Design to help me out! She ran with the design I had in mind, and I am SO happy with how they turned out!!
We finalized all of the finishing touches right before Leo’s 4th birthday, and I couldn’t wait to reveal it to him before his party! He was over the moon with the Star Wars theme, and I am happy to report that I love it too!
As always, this project would not have been a success without Kara from Blue Alice Space and Design! As most of you know, she has helped me with so many of my design projects over the years and I wouldn’t have been able to get through half of them without her help! LOL!
Well, there you have it! Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about Leo’s Star Wars room update!

Jilly
Only you could make a Star Wars themed bedroom look not only perfectly on theme, but so classy too! I never thought I’d be jealous of a kids room, but I am in this case, haha! Beautiful job Jillian – not to mention how gorgeous those watercolours Kaitlin did are!
This room is so cool and pretty much what i ak planning to do for my son for his room! What did you use to hang the light sabers?
What paint did you use for the blue on the walls? It’s such a nice “ calming” color
Cloverdale’s “In Good Taste 0505” xo
Amazing bedroom! Can your share the source for the table lamps?
I purchased them from Home Depot but I can’t find them on their website! xo
Truly a child’s dream come true and why not? Beautiful job Jillian!
Love the room, you did a beautiful job! Just wondering where the bedside lamps are from?

Here is the link: https://rstyle.me/+iYx_FTRgEOTOTaXtjG-2Pw xo
His room looks amazing! Can I ask where the night table lamp and ceiling light is from? Thank you!
SOOOO CUTE!!! You did an AMAZING job as always! I will be reaching out to Kaitlin to do some work for me!
I love the blue ceiling I think it looks spectacular. When my son’s were younger we had stars on the ceilings for them and that was 30 years ago.
Can I ask how you hung the light saber? Our son made one at Disneyland in January and it’s still sitting in the tote bag….. 😢
What brand and color name/number is the blue on the walls?
It’s amazing that you can make an interior for a star wars fan in such an aesthetic way. Congratulations – great effect.
Love this room!
Are you able to share the paint colours?
Sorry if they’re listed and I missed them!
Thank you:)
I listed them all in the blog post! xo
Which fabric is the bed covered in?
Would you mind sharing where the white comforter is from? We are having a hard time finding one similar for our son. Love the room! Using pieces of this as inspiration for our current “big boy” room transition! Thanks for sharing!
Would you mind sharing where the frames are from that Kaitlin’s pictures are in? They are so timeless and beautiful! Thanks
They are from a local place here in Kelowna called “Robert’s Custom Framing!”.
This is absolutely gorgeous! What color is the comforter on the bed and where did you get it from?
How beautiful is this room!! Where did you get the white bedding from?!
where are the lamps from? That are on the nightstands
What size photos did you do on his wall?
