Meg & Neal’s 17 year old home was in the perfect family-friendly neighbourhood and close to everything they wanted. It was a quirky split, which I LOVED … but it was riddled with problems. They were in major need of many updates (including a mouldy ceiling). The entire home was compartmentalised with not enough natural light in the right spaces. I needed to update the kitchen, living, dining, and master suite in order to get them to stay.
With the help of Kenny and the design team we managed to pull it off!!! We updated the kitchen to give them an open concept living/dining space and even snuck in a window to give them natural light for the first time ever. We completely transformed their master bedroom and ensuite by updating all of the furnishings and fixtures. I am so happy they were able to see the space in a new way after I was done with it. They will now be able to entertain all summer long … better luck next time Todd!!!!!
Although they wanted to completely swap locations of the kitchen and dining room … the budget didn’t allow us to do so. Instead, we got creative and changed the layout, allowing us to add in a window and create an open concept kitchen/dining space. We gave them all new cabinetry from Merit Kitchens which helped brighten everything up.
We completely updated the master bedroom. We ripped out the dated closets and pink rose carpets and finished off the space with a gorgeous new beaded chandelier from Design Lighting. It’s amazing what a simple little light fixture can do to a space …
We changed things around in the ensuite as everything was disjointed. We gave them his and hers sinks, new flooring and ALL new Cloverdale paint. We updated all of the paint colours throughout the home to cool greys and whites … and added in warm tones of browns to give the entire renovation a modern, crisp and cozy feel.
A big thank you as always to Janis Nicolay for the gorgeous photos!!

Where is that floor basket from…love it!
First time home owner here!! The first thing I want to do before we move into the house is paint! I have a lot of warm tones (beige sectional and warm wood furniture) for my living room space, but I love that you incorporated the warm grey with the beige colours in the kitchen/eating area!! What is the paint colour used in the kitchen??
FYI your Merit Kitchen link goes to Cloverdale Paints….
Jillian:
Fabulous transformation. Love, love, the color palette, please share info of the color of the grey paint used on the lower portion of the wall in the master bedroom & I have been looking so very long for artwork like that which you used in the master bedroom (clouds over water pic) I would be round the moon if you would be willing to share that information.
