The Jilly Box is a curated quarterly lifestyle subscription box filled with products loved by Jillian Harris and Team Jilly Box. The team is passionate about supporting small, eco-friendly, diverse, and cruelty-free brands from across North America.  The Jilly Box concept shares some of Jillian’s favourite products with their valued clientele and helps support small and up & coming businesses. Each box contains various brands that range from home decor, fashion, bath, beauty, health and wellness – all while keeping seasonality top of mind! Oftentimes you can find a custom item or two within The Jilly Box that has been designed exclusively by Jillian and the brand.
 
The Jilly Box has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, full-time Communications Specialist (14-months) to join their Kelowna, BC, based team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, as the successful candidate, you will craft and execute comprehensive communication strategies to enhance brand presence, engage stakeholders, and continue to build on the success of The Jilly Box brand! This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong understanding of effective communication techniques across various channels. Previous experience working in marketing and communication, preferably within the interior design, or home decor industry, will be vital to the success of this position. Remote work may be an option, provided the successful candidate is available for onsite events.
 
Additional responsibilities will include:
 

  • Develops compelling and engaging copy that references The Jilly Box core values for various communication channels, and all written brand assets, including product descriptions, social media channels, blogs, magazine content, website, unboxing script and announcement messaging, and seasonal boxes and products;
  • Creates speaking points and social media content for engagement sessions, warehouse visits, and other organizational touchpoints;
  • Ensures consistency in brand voice, messaging, and tone across all written content; 
  • Tailors messaging to different platforms and audience segments to maximize impact and effectiveness;
  • Strategizes and develops internal marketing campaigns based on creative direction and obligation requirements provided;
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with media contacts, journalists, bloggers, influencers, and other relevant stakeholders to secure press coverage and media opportunities;
  • Drafts press releases, bios, testimonials, and other public relations materials to generate positive publicity;
  • Creates and manages key messaging and content outlines, including providing responses to media interview questions with appropriate tone & voice; 
  • Leads The Jilly Box public relations strategy; maps media outlets and plans media outreach;
  • Supports communication strategies related to community donations, B-Corp Certification, employee volunteer work, sustainability, and awards and achievements;
  • Leads copywriting for website marketing updates and initiatives with a focus on supporting growth marketing initiatives;
  • Creates captivating & effective copy for blogs, magazines, newsletters, and social media captions;
  • Collaborates with Jillian Harris Design (JHD) for seasonal activations on JHD website for quarterly box launches;
  • Contributes creative ideas and insights to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the creative team;
  • Creates and manages key messaging and scripts for all seasonal photoshoot content, the unboxing script and announcement messaging;
  • Assists with other marketing initiatives and projects as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, or another related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a marketing and graphic design, preferably within the interior design, or home decor industry;
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point;
  • Proficient in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (with a focus on Photoshop), CAD, STEP, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote, Canva, and Figma;
  • Broad knowledge of best practice in corporate communication, and community engagement strategies;
  • Dedicated to learning, applying, championing, and communicating The Jilly Box’s core values;
  • Thorough knowledge and proven experience in social media and digital campaigns;
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and sustaining collaborative working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders;
  • Experience working both tactically and strategically;
  • Creative thinker who is creative, innovative and focuses on the voice of the brand;
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;

This exciting full-time, 14-month contract role (onsite or remote) offers a salary of $60,000-$65,000/year based on experience. Additional responsibilities will include:
 

  • Develops and executes an editorial calendar and social media strategies across various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to increase brand awareness and engagement;
  • Creates compelling content, including posts, stories, and multimedia assets, aligned with The Jilly Box brand voice and messaging;
  • Monitors social media channels, engages with followers, and responds to inquiries or comments in a timely and positive manner;
  • Analyzes performance metrics and adjusts strategies to optimize reach, engagement, and conversion;
  • Plans, executes, and measures digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels;
  • Collaborates with the creative team to develop campaign assets, messaging, and targeting strategies and to ensure that The Jilly Box brand is consistent across all digital media platforms;
  • Monitors campaign performance, analyzes key metrics, and provides insights and recommendations for optimization;
  • Supports clear communication with suppliers to convey project requirements, expectations, timelines, and deliverables;
  • Attend on site events and promotional activities to capture, create and post content;
  • Oversees photoshoots for marketing materials, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and campaign objectives;
  • Manages logistics for photoshoots, including service provider management, shot lists, props, scripting, planning & review, and scheduling;
  • Reviews and approves photoshoot content to ensure quality and consistency;
  • Produces and/or edits graphic content for print, social media, website, and other media platforms;
  • Stays updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital marketing;
  • Contributes creative ideas and insights to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the creative team;
  • Maintains brand consistency across all projects;
  • Communicates effectively and ensures project deliverables are met;

This exciting full-time, hybrid (remote & onsite) role offers a salary of $55,000-$60,000/year based on experience.
