It’s getting so close to Christmas that it’s almost time to set the table! And setting the table is like putting the final bow on a special present: it’s a gift your friends and family will sit down to unwrap and enjoy! No need to go to great expenses to make the table setting special, here are a few ideas to get your own creative juices flowing. BUT … I am only sharing a few here, for the rest … check them out on the W Dish blog!!!!
Tie a bow around it! One Christmas, I tied green ribbons around all the flatware and placed each over a vintage book. Not only was it fun to literally unwrap your knife and fork before digging in but the books were a bit of a conversation starter.
Another great idea that adds punch without opening your wallet is filling clear glass cloches with pines cones, Christmas baubles and twinkly lights. This table setting I did last year used things I had around the house and garden and it didn’t cost me a dime! What else can you put under a cloche to make things festive and bright?
This year, for the charity event Homes for the Holidays that raises money for Kids Help Phone, we went all out with decorations from The Cross and decorated this table to the nines! Elegant with creamy white plates, linen table cloth and gold-rimmed glassware, everything was topped off with a darling little ornament over the menu card on each setting. Just topping off each place setting with a little jewel makes all the difference.

No need to spend a lot of money on your table setting, think outside the box and gather up things you have in your home, use your Christmas decorations and play with it. I love having lots of pretty things at the table just be careful not to crowd things too much that your guests can’t enjoy the meal!
Do you have any creative and cost effective ways that you like to decorate your Christmas Table!? Let me know in the comments below.
