Leo’s Next Steps

Leo is almost 4 months old now and he is starting to murr murr, make noises, smile and even giggle. I am absolutely LOVING watching him grow up, develop and being the one that gets to teach him new things. I can’t believe I’m even saying this but … you guys might be right … I am FINALLY starting to realize that I can’t have everything WHITE for Leo. I started off so strong and gung-ho to have everything neutral toned, organized and perfect looking … but the more I have watched him grow, the more I realize he needs COLOUR in his life. I don’t mean coloured walls (although some of you might disagree with this lol) … but I mean more so in his toys and decor. I have become obsessed with his development and teaching him things which is where all of this thought of colour has come from.

He absolutely LOVES standing up when we hold him … so much so that when we were still in Maui I ordered him a jolly jumper from Snuggle Bugz so that it would arrive in time for when we got back. I have also been stocking up on colourful books with pop outs, and recently got him an activity gym AND an activity centre!! I can’t believe how many cool things are out their to support babies growth and development. I am learning SO much and hope to share some if it with you along the way.

Ontop of all of that, having all of the toys and baby gear around the house doesn’t bug me one bit like I thought it would!!

We still love having our baths together … there are so many cool toys that he can start playing with and hold like the Oball!!! We also just got him an Aqua Splash Bath Mat which is basically a Bumbo for the bath. It allows Leo to play freely and keeps him upright … he needs to have a LITTLE bit more body control before he can start using it but it shouldn’t be too much longer now. I can’t believe this but I also ordered the base for the Stokke Bouncer AND his very first Bumbo Seat. Believe it or not, it’s almost time to get him started on some solids. I will save all of that for another blog though!!!

For now … at this 4-month stage, I am rounding up some of the top items that I have found and will be trying from Snuggle Bugz. If you know any 4-month-old babes out there … ANY of these items would also make for great Christmas presents. Consider getting them something colourful to help with their development. There is so much to choose from and so much out there, check out the Snuggle Bugz Flyer for some ideas … or follow along below for my top picks …

  1. OMG- I knew it, I knew it, I knew it.. White and a child does not werk! Although I am not happy that you will change your colour, I am happy that I knew this and probably even commented on it. Oh how I love you, Jolly Jilly! 🙂 I love Leo too, he is DARLING…

  2. white totally works for decor for babies, i say keep it! and then just add pops of color through out their toys, books, etc. some people just don’t like white, they just don’t “get it”. but as a fellow lover of white (with pops of color) i say, don’t give up the look you love in your home decor but definitely don’t buy the babe all neutral books and toys. he might faint when he sees a rainbow.

    1. LOL!!!! Yes, we will be adding some more colour here and there going forward. “He might faint when he sees a rainbow” … LOL!!! ?

  3. My son is only about 24 hours younger than Leo. I love following along in your journey! Being a mom is the best feeling in the world!

  4. Color definitely does help them! I love seeing everything you get for him! My baby is going to be a month next week so I love following along your journey with him knowing there are other mommy’s out there dealing with some of the same things!!

    1. Oh absolutely!! We all go through learning curves … it’s just nice to be able to share them with you all and have you follow along and learn with me!! XOXO

  5. I love this post, it’s giving me great Christmas ideas for my little girl. She is 2 weeks behind Leo (would they have had the same bday?? Haha). I ve been heavily focused on her development as well so this is so helpful! Thanks for the fun roundup!

    1. So glad to hear you found this post helpful Quinn!! I hope you have a wonderful time with your little one this Christmas!!! XO

  6. I’m with you on this! I thought baby toys everywhere would bug me but it makes me so happy to see his cute little things scattered around the house. Finding little socks in pillow cushions or his little hat on the floor seriously make my day 🙂 xo

  7. Thank you for this, I have a 3 month old so this is helpful. Will you be doing any posts on how to travel with baby after your Hawaii trip?

    1. I agree Rebecca (I posted the same q on her instagram)…dying to get travel tips with a newborn…we’re planning to venture off in the Summer when ours will be 3 mths old. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Maria!! So far the Jolly Jumper has been great and Nacho loves seeing his little brother moving around so much!! LOL!!! Congrats on your babe!! XOXO

  8. Hi Jillian! I really enjoyed this post gave me some great ideas for Christmas gifts! I have a question though. Hopefully you can help. You had a post up on your Instagram story where Leo was in the jolly jumper and on the floor was some sort of toy that lite up and I’m assuming plays music. Would you mind sharing where you found this toy? Thank you

  9. Thanks for posting this Jillian!! My daughter is the exact same age as Leo, born on August 5th, so I’m riding the same wave as you. I was also wondering about the Jolly Jumper, because she’s still working on her head control, do you find that it helps with that? Or, any other tips/exercises you can recommend? Thanks so much. Keep posting away mama.

  10. Hi, I was wondering how the bath mat works for you? i can’t seem to get the mat to stick to the tub, the chair part does but not the mat. Do i just have a defective one? also how do you find the seat? I am finding that it offers no support, you had mentioned that it would be for when Leo was a little older. My guy is almost six months. Just wondering if you have tried it and your thoughts.
