Local Holiday Decorating Faves

Morning loves!! November is here and I know this post is a little early being that we are a few days away from Remembrance Day, but this doesn’t mean you have to decorate right now… but you CAN start planning!! You all know how excited I get about the holidays and planning!! LOL!

When it comes to Christmas decorating, I love having a mix of old vintage items, new timeless pieces, and handmade decor and I find that Etsy is a great place to find some unique locally made decor. Not only do I absolutely love supporting local small shops but you can also beat the holiday crowd by shopping online from the comfort of your own home.

Today I wanted to share a few of my holiday decorating favourites with you which include some great finds from local Canadian Etsy shops!

Pops of Red

You also know just how much I love whites and creams but Christmas is the one time of year (besides maybe Canada Day) that I incorporate little pop of red in my home! LOL! This is a super easy way to make your home look festive quickly … adding red pillows to your couch and chairs, napkins on the table or even just cute little ornaments on your shelves to get that nice little pop of colour.

Wreaths

I’m a total sucker for wreaths and I love changing them up for each season. The beauty about wreaths is that you can keep them year after year!

Stockings

We all know that stockings are a Christmas decor staple and it just wouldn’t feel right without them hanging on your mantle!!

Fun Garland

From little banners to adorable felt ball garland to your classic faux pine garland, this is another staple to get your home holiday ready!

Knit Blankets and Throws

I like to put a couple of chunky knit throws around the house, on our bed, and on the couch (you like that rhyme?! LOL) and also faux fur throws on our dining room chairs to make everything feel super cozy.

  1. What sweater are you wearing in these pictures?! It looks great.

I got personalized stockings and a matching tree skirt “The Turner Family” from Etsy last year. The seller is in Kelowna or Kamloops I believe!

  2. I love your taste in holiday decor and love it even more that you’re profiling Canadian Etsy sellers!! I’m fairly new to Etsy, from YYC and selling handmade holiday cards, if you feel like checking them out! I think you would appreciate my sense of humour… there’s one that says “I like your balls”… perhaps for Justin? Lol. It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas!! 🙂

  3. Jill! You are amazing! All of the hard work you and your team has put into your community at Mamas For Mamas should be applauded. What a fantastic start to the holiday season.

I wanted to share with you my Etsy page, out of Fort McMurray. My shop is fairly new but I’m loving the opportunity Etsy has given me to get my pieces out there. Anything from cake toppers, cupcake toppers, banners, gift tags etc. Using a variety of different materials such as glitter card stock, burlap, holographic paper and so much more! Thanks for letting me share! Ps.. I agree with Shay & the girls… you can definitely pull off the hair tucked behind the ears look!!! ??

  4. Thanks for the recommendations! Where is the red striped pillow from that you have in your living room? Looks like a neutral linen with the red striped in the middle. Thanks!
