The other day I was scrolling through Instagram and I got a notification that the Barreroom was going live. I thought I would pop in and check out what they were up to. I saw that this wasn’t just your ordinary IG live, rather it was a full-on Barre workout for the hour. I thought since I was already here (TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT), that I may as well stay and do the workout (even though I was wearing my pink Free People Slouchy Ottoman Tunic LOL!).
Some of you know that I am either all gung-ho about eating healthy and working out or I am eating chocolate cake and drinking wine (it’s called balance … LOL!). That being said, the girls on Team Jilly have really motivated me with their workout routines through this pandemic! I thought it would be awesome for them to share some of their favourite workouts that they’ve been doing from home with you today!
Barre Lab in Vernon is currently hosting a virtual 2-week workout challenge. They offer a couple of 60 minute Barre classes per day plus they pepper in some 10-minute challenges if you are running short on time (they are quick but they bring the BURN!). They offer yin yoga in the mix too which is really nice especially when you are needing a good stretch after working from your couch all day. The 2-week challenge is coming to a close but starting April 6th Barre Lab is bringing Live and On-Demand classes since the isolation will be a lot longer than we originally suspected! All of their exercises require minimal equipment and you can improvise using TP in replace of a ball or cans of food in replace of weights!
Tight Club is a workout studio based in Vancouver that specializes in High-Intensity Interval Training! They have started live-streaming their workouts for you to do from the comfort of your own home for a very small fee. You can choose a day and time that works best for your schedule and all you need to do is sign up, talk about easy-peasy. The workouts, on the other hand, are not so easy, but you’ll love them (we promise)! Their classes are streamed through Zoom and you can watch others work out alongside you. Invite a friend and make a little challenge out of it!
Barreroom in Kelowna has been posting live workouts every day! They are then saved to their IG account so you can do them whenever you want, which is awesome. Not all studios are doing this most are just doing them live and if you miss it that’s your own problem! LOL! Not to mention, their workouts are also FREE. In place of this, they have just set up a donation link if you would like to help support the instructors teaching the classes during this time. Their main goal is to support the community and get everyone moving!! The workouts are killer and easy to do from just a mat in your kitchen whenever you want!!
Lagree West is a pilates reformer focused studio based in Vancouver! This type of workout method focuses on slow and controlled movements using a reformer to target muscle stimulation using resistance. While we aren’t able to go into the studio and use their reformers the Lagree West team has been working really hard to bring the same sweaty, shaky and intense workout to you online! One of our all-time favourite instructors from the studio is Rachel Doell, if you see her class make sure to book it before all the spaces fill up. We promise you are in for a fun and intense workout!!
Flex Fitness is offering a 60 day work out challenge that you can start at any time! These videos were created by two of Toronto’s leading personal trainers who specialized in in-home training long before we literally found ourselves with no choice but to work out in our homes… so they’ve got this whole thing figured out. Think of each workout like a one-on-one personal training session from the comfort of your own home with no equipment required (which is a total bonus!!). Before you commit to the full 60 day challenge you can try a work out for free on their website. To top it all off, they are donating a portion of their sales from the full 60-day program to their local food bank. Working out and donating to a good cause? Sign us up!!
The Women’s Place in Kelowna is a family-owned all women’s fitness studio. They offer one of the largest group training schedules and specialize in one-on-one personal training. During this time they are sharing all of their amazing workouts online, the classes range anywhere from yoga, cardio and strength training. All of these workouts are available for free!! TWP’s main focus is to help grow and strengthen our community while allowing us to stay connected during this time, which is so awesome! Calling all cyclists and marathon runners!! While you may not be able to get your outdoor fix, we have the next best thing. Zwift is a virtual training application for running and cycling! It’s basically like a video game for working out and allows you to train and compete against people from around the world. All you need is a membership and some of their equipment to get started!
