The Bachelor Recap: Demi Drama

Hi everyone!! Mindy here! As many of you know, Jillian is soaking up the sun in Hawaii this week (and hopefully doing so with a Mai Tai in hand!) so I’ve taken over her blog today because I want to share my thoughts on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor!!

Can we kick it off by chatting about a little Demi drama quickly? Let’s just go for it!

Jillian Harris The Bachelor Recap

Demi

In our recap last week I mentioned near the bottom of the post that I had a hunch Demi might be a bit of a trouble maker. Well, looks like I hit the nail on the head with that assumption! LOL!

There’s no denying Demi is a confident girl and she certainly goes after what she wants! I don’t necessarily think she is a villain or out to get anyone (except for Colton, that is!) but I do think she enjoys ruffling some feathers and stirring the pot.

I have to admit though, there were a couple of things Demi said on Monday that I TOTALLY don’t agree with! First off, she fired me up when she said: “I’m not worried about it, because there’s no advantage to being an older woman here,” … ummm hold up. Demi, Demi, Demi … no. Just no. LOL! Maybe I didn’t like this comment because I’m about 10 years older than Demi but damn … if she thinks the “older” women aren’t competition, she has another thing coming! ?

She also said this: “I think Colton will realize he needs a girl in his life that is more bold and confident and will take a bit more of a dominant role. I think that Colton is looking for a girl that can take charge and take control. Even if he, like, doesn’t know that he’s looking for that, I think that that’s what he needs.” … I couldn’t disagree more.

When I look at Colton and how he interacts with the other girls I feel as though he needs a girl who, yes, is CONFIDENT in herself but I don’t think he needs someone who is DOMINANT. I think that Colton would vibe the best with someone who is on the same level as he is. Down to earth, invested in a long term relationship and who is on an equal playing field as their partner. What do you think?? Am I totally out to lunch here? Let me know in the comments section!

Elyse

Elyse totally refers herself to a cougar and I think it’s so hilarious! I know Demi doesn’t view Elyse as much competition as she is “older” but I think Elyse is a force to be reckoned with!!! I didn’t notice Elyse much during the premiere but I think she came out swinging in Monday’s episode and I totally ADORE her!

I truly think Elyse could really go far here, I love the fact that she is confident in herself but not cocky, her personality actually makes me think of the quote, “Confidence is silent, insecurities are loud” … bang on, hey?!

Who else is cheering Elyse on?

Jillian Harris The Bachelor Recap

Hannah B

I think Hannah B is so cute and I was happy to see her get the first one on one date but I was shocked to see how awkward the entire date was UNTIL she finally opened up to Colton at dinner (which TOTALLY saved her ass by the way!). I completely understand where she is coming from and WHY she was shutting down.

I thought it was brilliant (and so amazing!) that Colton told her to stop feeling like she needs to be perfect, I think as soon as he said that, it was like a weight lifted off her shoulders. Colton is an old soul ladies … and it’s freakin awesome!

Jillian Harris The Bachelor Recap

Also … I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again … WHY do they feel it’s necessary to hot tub in BROAD daylight in the scorching heat?! I don’t get it. I would be totally overheating and so red and blotchy if I were in that hot tub. I will never understand this portion of the one on one dates. Ever. ?

What are your thoughts on the episode? Share them with us below!

Until next week!

  1. Agreed about Demi. Ugh SO OVER HER! She needs to go ASAP!

What about Tracey…. and the crying scene at the cocktail party… thoughts!? I thought it was a bit over dramatic. Yes what Demi did was straight up rude and unnecessary. But, Tracey’s reaction was a tad much! LOL

    1. Definitely an over reaction. Tracey is even more insecure than Demi which is exactly why Demi chooses to pick on her. She won’t try that crap with someone who will just push back.

  2. There’s a difference between being confident & obnoxiously cocky; Demi is the latter, and it is VERY unattractive! In fact, she makes me embarrassed for the state of Texas! Hope her stay is short-lived; girl needs to learn some humility! Hannah is a big disappointment as well, I really expected a pageant girl (not actually a plus in my book) to be much more polished & savvy but that girl is a bag of insecurities. And it’s not Colton’s place to build her up and round her out when there are so many other girls there who know who they are and are comfortable in their own skin.

  3. Hi Mindy
watching the Bachelor this week was quite obivous that Demi is also another problem
in the house besides Catherine so we will find out what goes done on Monday.

  4. I knew Demi would be trouble from minute 1. I totally agree with you that Colton doesn’t need someone who is dominant, nor for someone to decide for him what’s right for him! There is one of these gals on every season that has it figured out exactly what this guy needs, and the description is always of herself. That’s because she’s not nearly as confident as she’d like everyone to believe. All the things she points out as negatives describe the girls she is actually threatened by.
And she should be threatened! Elyse totally killed that group date. Her story was heads and tails above the rest, and she seemed to click with Colton when they had some one on one time.
Hannah B’s date was painful to watch! Glad they salvaged things at the end. I thought it was nice how Colton recognized that she was hiding behind her beauty queen veneer, and he pushed her a bit and broke through a bit of her shell. Hopefully she’ll be less nervous and open up more next time.

  5. I agree about Demi… I’m not a fan. She’s very immature and bratty. She also seems entitled. Elyse is in the top 3 for me. With Cassie. Those 2 ladies are my faves. I love how confident Elyse is and how sweet and down to earth Cassie is. I told myself I wasn’t going to watch this season, but I am glad I caved.

  6. I am not a fan of Demi either. I think confidence is great but I think she’s taken it beyond that and I’m not impressed at all—although Colton seems to keel picking her so it will be interesting to see how long she sticks around….

  7. I totally agree with everything you said about Demi ! I personally cannot stand her , I think she is way too immature for a serious relationship, and personality wise all together very obnoxious.

I like how you pointed out the hot tub dates! I also have never understood them, I would legit get heat stroke doing that and look like a sweaty tomato .

So far I don’t really have any favourites, I think Hannah g is really sweet though, and it seems like Colton is really into her .

  8. I agree with everything you said Mindy. I REALLY like Elyse, I hope she makes it far. Hannah B…not too sure about her. I think she might become too much in her own head and try to be too perfect as the episodes go on.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Colton as the Bach but, he’s growing on me. I agree with what you said about him being an « old soul ».

Can’t wait for the rest of the season. My top two so far Elyse and Cassie

  9. Agree about Demi. Also, enough about the Virgin thing. Who cares?? We are so over it! Let’s move on and let things unfold as they do. We have started calling the other Hannah “Skipper” (Barbie’s little sister), she seems super sweet but she looks soooo young – not old enough to be called Barbie!hee!hee!

  10. Thank you for bringing up what Demi said about older women not having any advantage. My sister and I were losing our S#$! everytime she said that. As a women who married a man 10 years her junior I can YELL at her…. there are plenty advantages to being older!! My husband wouldn’t have it any other way.

  11. There was one other thing that Hannah said on their date that stood out to me! She said that she wished she could’ve saved her virginity for marriage… she wished she could do that for them(her future husband)! NO! If you are going to choose to wait to have sex with someone you love, you do that for YOU! And only YOU!

    1. Honestly I am just so tired of the virginity thing. I wasn’t happy with Colton being the bachelor and my mind has not been changed so far. I feel like the whole season is going to focus on this topic.

  12. Oh I so agree re: Demi. I feel embarrassed for her behaviour. I also think Hannah B is insecure and the “trying to be perfect” thing has issues written all over it. That would be a full time job for him to end up with her and support those insecurities and issues. I like the other little Hannah and there are several girls that are acting normal and he’s had some good conversations with. Time will tell. One thing I do note is that Colton seems to have matured or worked on himself and I do feel he knows what he wants and will make a good decision in the end.
