No, not some rockin’ mid century miltary cargo pants, an awesome antique canteen & a vintage ammunition trunk (though I would totally snag those for Justin’s man cave or my dream cabin) – but when I go “VINTAGE HUNTING”, I really do get geared up for the kill!!
I’ve always believed in being prepared for anything when hunting for the perfect vintage pieces in antique shops all over the world, but ever since the launch of Charlie Ford Vintage, I’ve taken this to an entire new level…. gotta keep things professional, right???
When I have a day ahead of me filled with digging through piles of vintage gems, climbing up ladders to get a better look and feel for a gorgeouschandelier or to get my hands on some dusty old hardcover classics, or trying on some delicate antique jewelry (like this ring!!), I always try to keep these 3 simple rules in mind when choosing my perfect vintage hunting outfit.
1. Start with a blank (but pretty!!) canvas.
This is especially important when trying on a antique brooch or checking out an awesome vintage gold chain mail clutch: you will want to be able to visualize yourself wearing it in in your real everyday life or for that special event. So thow on some mascara & lip gloss and and a simple pretty dress and you’ll be ready for anything!!
2. Be comfy.
You’ll absolutely want to be in some of your comfiest shoes so you can walk through the many mazes or up & over any obstacles…. but whoever said you have to sacrafice style for comfort never had my amazing cheetah print heels from Nine West… I could hike a mountain in these things!!! (and they do add that “camo” hunting gear element as well)
3. The bigger the bag, the better!
For all your vintage findings, of course!! Don’t waste a plastic bags for all your goodies, bring a big tote for the day’s accumulaton of the smaller gems.
Love this look? Get it for yourself!!!
