As some of you MIGHT already know … Halloween is one of my favourite seasons to decorate for. It’s one of the only seasons that doesn’t matter how “pretty” it looks … and instead is more about creativity. I LOVE decking out the house and mixing gory items with pretty/dainty pieces. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to keep my pallet quite neutral and white while making the theme of Halloween shine through. Follow along below for 5 tips when it comes to decorating for Halloween this season …
Tip #1: I usually start by adding pretty pumpkins from a pumpkin patch around the house. I then move on to adding skulls (opens in a new tab), crows (opens in a new tab), rats and spiders throughout the house by switching out some of my key decor pieces and vintage finds that are interchangeable from season to season.
Tip #2: Get as gory and creative as you possibly can. Scatter jars of blood around the house … and maybe some fingers (opens in a new tab) beside them … Remember this is the one holiday that you don’t need to worry about it being pretty!!
Tip #3: Pillows!!!!! This is the same tip for every season and holiday … purchase a few holiday themed pillows to switch out with some of your already-existing classics. I like adding a pop of colour if possible and for Halloween … that colour being orange (like this pillow (opens in a new tab))!!
Tip #4: If you’re having guests over, make sure you have appropriate items to eat and drink out of like this spoon (opens in a new tab), mug (opens in a new tab), goblet (opens in a new tab) and straws (opens in a new tab). If you’re making food … get creative … skin grapes and put them in a bowl … or top your cupcakes off with cute toppers (opens in a new tab).
Tip #5: Finish your space off with pretty classics like a Happy Halloween (opens in a new tab) banner. This will help tie in the gory decor with your overall beautiful space!!!
Here are some items to help you decorate this season … not to mention these are ALL found on Etsy (opens in a new tab) and all from Canada!!!!
