5 Ways to Make Valentine’s Day Special for Kids!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that decorating and love are two main parts of my brand. I just love LOVE… and I’m always looking for an excuse to decorate! If you’re looking for some simple ways to spruce up your space and make Valentine’s Day special for the kids, I’m here to help!

Now, I know that this might seem overboard to some people, but from my perspective… this world can be depressing sometimes, so if I can add some excitement and whimsy into my kids’ lives, I’m going to do it. All of these decorations (besides the pillows) fit into one tupperware container, and I reuse them each year! I’m not suggesting that you buy all of these things for your kids, these are obviously for mom, but making the house feel festive does make the holiday extra special for the kiddos!

So, if you’re looking to make Valentine’s Day a little extra special this year, I’ve got you covered! Let’s get right into it.

1. Reusable Valentine’s Day Banners

I LOVE reusable banners, and I can’t pass up anything with a signature Jilly heart on it. If you are looking for some Valentine’s Day DIYs to tackle, why not try this Air Dry Clay Valentine’s Banner or Easy Loved Stitched Pillow. Or if you’re looking for something a little easier, give our Heart Banner DIY a shot, it’s a fun activity for the kids!

Pro tip: Try sticking to only using one reusable banner per room. I typically have one hanging over my kitchen sink and potentially one in Annie’s room, but that’s it!

2. Heart Decor Pieces

Need I say more? 😂 All joking aside, what I love about heart decor is whether it’s a heart mug, red or pink pillows, door mat, prayer beads or this adorable ceramic spoon rest (which is made in Canada), it’s not just limited to Valentine’s Day, you can keep them on display all year long!

3. Valentine’s Day Inspired Art

A cute Valentine’s Day-themed print would make the perfect addition to enhance your space for Valentine’s Day. Whether you are having a romantic evening with your partner, a Galentine’s Day event, or just spending some quality time with yourself these prints will set the mood for whatever your Valentine’s Day has in store! These are digital prints that you can just print on your home printer and pop into an existing frame!

4. Books

One of my favorite holiday traditions is rotating our seasonally-themed books. After each holiday, like Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, I put away the holiday-themed books and store them until the following year. When I bring them back out, the kids get excited all over again to read them!

5. Breakfast Setup

On the morning of Valentine’s Day, I’ll set up the kitchen island with some cute placemats, treats, and maybe even some pink pancakes with fun sprinkles, like these ones from Jenna Rae Cakes!

If you want to go above and beyond, you can make cute little heart-shaped waffles with this mini waffle maker!

Well, there you have it, 5 easy tricks to make Valentine’s Day a little more special for your kiddos! I posted a reel showing me showing some of the above tips here!

What are your thoughts on decorating for V-Day?!

  1. Love the reusable banner idea. I normally swop out my mugs for each holiday. I am still looking for the perfect heart mug.
