Crazy how this holiday has evolved for me as I’m sure it does for everyone! Whether you father is still with you, has passed, is now a grandpa, or the love of your life now becomes a “father” to your most precious little people.
I am SO lucky to say that I was blessed beyond words with the father that I was gifted. My dad, Glen (Glenny, Glen-choo, Geesy, or as Leo calls him.. Papa) is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. He’s upbeat, he’s positive, he’s funny as hell, he’s a ROCK to my mother and our family. He will help out ANYONE who needs it, give you the shirt off his back. He loves a good conversation, a good joke and making strangers laugh … even if his jokes are inappropriate or not funny. He’s a laugh at your own jokes kind of guy.
Seeing him as a grandfather has completely melted my heart. I’ve never seen my dad so attentive, obsessed and amused as he is with our little Leo. I’m grateful every day for their love for each other and can’t wait to see him with our little girl.
But these days, Fathers Day isn’t just about MY Dad anymore, it’s about the Man who is helping me raise our family … the “DAD” in our house, Justin.
Justin, you have no idea how proud I am of you as a Father and a role model for our Children. Your creativity and love with Leo, your bond with him and special inside “jokes” and stories. I mean it all started with Nacho, you’ve been a loving, dependable and caring Father since we adopted our fur baby and it continues with our son. I can’t wait to see you with our little Baby Girl. Every night you come inside from busting your ass on the yard, dealing with my cardboard, building our garden … I am grateful that I found my way to you. Seeing you fall in love with our home and watching you build, fix, learn and take care of us … it’s simply the hottest thing ever (It might not seem like I feel that way since I’m asleep hours before you come inside lol …) But its true. Thank you for being an incredible partner to raise a family with – we couldn’t be luckier.
And before I go, a special little shout out to the Man who raised ‘our’ Man … Nonno. Paul, you are an incredible leader, father and a Nonno full of love for our little Leo. You did a pretty wonderful job with raising your son, and for that I thank you!
Happy Fathers day Justin, Dad (Papa) and Paul (Nonno)!!!
