An Unforgettable Family Trip to Nimmo Bay

Today I want to tell you about one of the most beautiful family vacations we’ve ever taken.

In the summer of 2023, we had a planned to visit Nimmo Bay for our second time, with my cousin Tori and her husband Charles.

We’ve always wondered about what the kids would think of this place… A remote luxury destination hidden in the Great Bear Rainforest. The first time we went it was such a powerful, beautiful experience that I was crying when we left.

Out of all the places in the world that I’ve travelled to, Nimmo Bay is by far the most unique, life-changing memorable vacations I’ve ever been on. So, naturally as we were preparing for our second visit, we felt guilty that we weren’t bringing the kids.

The decision was difficult. This is one of those sacred trips that you really want to protect. We all know what it’s like to travel with children. Things get a little crazier, emotions are heightened… you know how it is!

But after much contemplation, we pulled the trigger, and both couples decided to pack the kids up and bring them along.

What would follow is still, to this day, the most memorable vacation of the kids’ lives. Yes they’re young, but as a family we travel very often, and Nimmo Bay is still their favourite.

See this is the thing about Nimmo Bay – it’s family owned and operated and it’s so remote that you can only get there by sea plane. Their staff are truly the best in the industry and make you feel like family.

Their little cabins are nestled in the woods and make you sort of feel like Hansel and Gretel of the West Coast.… Except there is no wicked witch LOL!

There is a beautiful waterfall nestled in the woods on the way to breakfast, with two hot tubs beside it. If that’s not incredible enough, there’s also a spa just a quick hike up the mountain, in a tiny little hut that feels like a warm hug.

They also offer fishing excursions and a sauna experience, complete with lunch, music, games and a hot tub on your own floating dock. They make this a private experience just for your family… Have I mentioned there are no devices or Wi-Fi?

Everything is planned out for you so there is no guesswork involved. You don’t need to worry about what you’ll do next, you can just tell your host how you want this vacation to go and they’ll make it happen for you!

I can’t finish this blog without mentioning the FOOD! It is absolutely delicious, farm to table, and prepared by the most amazing, award-winning chefs!

To top off the vacation, our kids laid on the dock for hours watching the effervescent in awe. There was no need for devices or movies before bed, because everybody’s hearts were full of fresh West Coast air, memories, and good food.

I know that a trip to Nimmo Bay is an investment. But, if it’s in your budget, or if you’re looking for that bucket list experience for your family… I’m telling you there’s nothing else quite like it.
