Decorating The Vancouver Nursery

I cannot believe I only have 2 and a half months left before I pop!!!! WHERE has the time gone!?!?! The Vancouver nursery needs to be FULLY set up before I leave to Kelowna at the end of July … so it is definitely crunch time with only 1 month to go. If you missed my blog post on how I’m decorating the Kelowna nursery make sure to check it out here as they are being decorated completely differently!!! My Kelowna home will be more traditional with whites, creams, and oatmeals. And the Vancouver home will be more modern with whites and pops of COLOUR!!! That’s right, I said it … colour!!!

I am so excited to share the Vancouver nursery with you as it’s a little bit outside of my typical decor style. I have found all of my major items at Wayfair, other than the crib which is Stokke. I still need to paint the walls white and wait for a few more items to arrive but it’s definitely starting to come together!! I can’t wait to show you the final outcome. For now … I have rounded up my favourite items to give you an idea of what I have for it so far and the image below of the room to give you an idea of what it looks like …

As you can see the space is a little bit more modern than my Kelowna home with the angled ceiling. It’s not a HUGE space so I really need to be strategic with the larger items and where they will be placed. I am saying “practical first” before decor as this is where I will have the most gruelling schedule, so everything will need to be organised and convenient. I am excited to have it brightened right up with pops of colour and to have it be the little babes sanctuary. We are also getting the drawers FULLY stocked with items from Snuggle Bugz as we speak … there is SO much to get and so much to choose from!!

Here are some of my main inspiration images so far  …

A few other things that I’m still thinking about …

  • Window Coverings – We are getting drapes made by Q Design … I’m just trying to decide on the colour!!
  • Walls – I THINK we are going to paint them WHITE so that the colour really pops…
  • Other than that … we are waiting to find out the gender before deciding on a few decor pieces!!

What do you think of it so far!?!?! Let me know in the comments below …

  1. Hi Jillian! Have you had a look at Restoration Hardware for furniture & inspiration? I fell in love with their baby ideas! My friend is due in 2 weeks and she is also doing a lot of neutrals and will have pops of cloud once they know the gender. Love a bit of greenery too, to give a little bit of that punch of green to a room. I love the fuzzy shag rugs from Bouclair but you can probably get those anywhere. Either way your nurseries are going to be fab. 🙂
    Alycia (also from Vancouver!)

  2. We love our Stokki Sleepi! I would recommend getting the organic mattress though as the non-organic one’s off gassing was pretty intense! 🙂

  3. A friendly FYI about the sheepskin rug – vegan ethics aside 😉 You may want to research the brand if you are planning on your baby spending time on it. I’ve read that there can be a lot of nasty chemicals used in manufacturing (arsenic, formaldehyde, and who knows what else); that said, there are eco-friendly brands available.

  4. Gorgeous and so modern! Love it!! Small tip from a mom… definitely 100% need a chair that rocks or glides somehow – you will spend hours upon hours rocking/feeding baby in it. Hands down best money spent in our entire nursery was the rocking chair. loving the style of the chair you picked though!! Chic!

  5. I would love if you could do a post on your fav baby items so far (bassinet, swing, car seat, stroller etc) as a new mom to be as well I’m feeling a bit lost as to what to buy.
Good luck with the delivery of your little bean ?
