I can’t believe how fast time flies, especially when you have kids! I feel like it was just yesterday that I was sitting down to write Annie’s nursery reveal, and here I am today sharing an update on her new bedroom transformation. Some of you may be wondering why we decided to upgrade Annie to a big girl bed so quickly? Well, every night when we would get ready for bed, I could see how much she loved jumping into our bed, and Leo’s bed and I honestly thought it was the perfect time to upgrade to her very own big girl bed!
I quickly hopped on to Pottery Barn’s website, I found a bed that I loved, but after all of the shipping, duties, exchange rate and taxes, I couldn’t believe how much this bed was going to cost. And with all of the small businesses struggling this past year, I thought it would be best to invest that money into a local company instead. So, I reached out to Primrose Lifestyle, an Alberta company, to see if they could help me make this happen.
They were on board and we collaborated on the dreamiest bed frame for Annie’s room! The Primrose team got to work on the bed right away, and they completed it in record time. I was NOT expecting to have Annie’s bed designed, built AND delivered SO quickly. I hadn’t even discussed the transition with our sleep coaches, but I thought what the worst that can happen? π€·π»ββοΈ
We didn’t do a complete room transformation; we just kept it very simple and stuck to three new items she needed to transform her room. We dismantled her crib and tucked it away for her to use for her kids someday, along with my absolute favourite hot air balloon print from Minted. There wasn’t enough room to keep her chair or her bookcase with her new double bed, but we will be sending those off to Mamas for Mamas for another kiddo and mama to use and love.
It all started out great! Annie was in absolute awe of her new bed, her new nightstand co-designed by the Primrose Team and I and complete with her dollhouse from Primrose Lifestyle. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a few stories of Annie sleeping in her new bed with Nacho, and she was just loving her new room. But… the excitement quickly wore off, and her sleep routine has been an absolute nightmare and living hell ever since! LOL! π€ͺ I’ve talked to THREE sleep experts and have taken almost every piece of advice they have offered, and nothing is working.
The good news is that Annie’s room transformation turned out beautifully and even better than I had expected! It was a pretty simple transformation, the only thing I wish is that she would actually sleep in her bed π
