If you read my blog (and if you caught yesterday’s post!) you’ll know that the exterior of our home took us the longest to complete. In fact, I still consider it a work in progress but the biggest chunk of it is now done.
One of the things I hadn’t pulled together until just recently was the exterior lights! We have an outside “bar” area upstairs on our deck and I was in need of two lights on either side of it and I searched for what seemed like countless hours and after about 5 hours of straight searching (I’m not even joking!) I found the Henry Street sconces from Troy Lighting and we (especially Justin!!) fell in love with them.
I think they look really timeless and classic and add a nice bold pop to this space. We decided to go with the two bulb light and I especially love the colonial iron finish and the candelabra base on these.
Some of you are probably wondering why in the world it took me so long to pick out lights … well, to me, lighting is SO important, it can totally make or break the look of a space. If the light is too harsh you won’t feel as cozy and comfortable and you won’t get the ambiance you were hoping for. This goes for BOTH interior and exterior lighting.
If you feel you are currently lacking ambiance in your home, you probably need to consider layering your lighting … you probably need to add in sconce lighting or landscape lighting.
Also, out back by the pool and in the front yard we had these really outdated post lights that desperately needed to be changed so I took another look on Troy Lighting’s site in search of something to replace these with. Ps. If you haven’t ever checked out Littman (and if you’re in need of some lighting!!), I would totally recommend checking them out.
They are a great high-end lighting resource and you can sort by colour, size, and price on their site which I love … and it also saves you countless hours!! LOL!!
Anyway, I found the Henry Street posts to replace our old post lights!! I selected these specific lights because they give off a nice soft glow and the light actually looks like a candle!!
Now that we have all of our lighting up, we just have some last minute landscaping to go and I THINK we should pretty much have the exterior done and dusted!!
