10 Morning Routines That’ll Leave You Feeling Refreshed & Energized

Let’s face it, mornings can be tough, especially when you’re a mama (what is sleep again?? LOL!), but I have a list of 10 simple morning routines that’ll leave you feeling refreshed and energized … well, at least for me! The best part about these routines is that they are super simple and you can start them as early as tomorrow! You can choose to do all 10 of them or you can pick a few that you like best, and stick with them!

1. Drink Water

Before you go to bed make sure to have a big glass of water on your nightstand ready for you when you wake up! As soon as your alarm goes off, drink your entire glass of water. After a good night’s sleep your body is dehydrated so drinking a large glass of water not only helps to rehydrate your body but it also fuels your brain and helps combat that groggy feeling!

2. Have a Mug of Hot Lemon Water Before Coffee

After you’ve hydrated your body with your glass of water (and before you dig into that first cup of coffee) pour yourself a mug of hot lemon water (for an extra kick add some cayenne pepper to your water!), hot lemon water helps to flush the digestive system and the Vitamin C helps with collagen production for healthy skin and nails! If you add the cayenne pepper to your water, this helps to stimulate your circulatory system! Lots of great benefits in one little mug, hey?! LOL!

3. Pump the Tunes

Nothing gets me more fired up in the morning than blasting 80’s country!! Press play on your favourite playlist, have a mini dance party and get on with your day!

4. Use Invigorating Products

Try to use shampoo, conditioner and shower gel that’s made with invigorating ingredients to wake up your senses! The Refreshing Lemon Bath and Shower Gel from Avalon Organics is a great example, the shower gel uses a plant-based formula that contains lemon essential oil (along with vitamin E, aloe, and botanical cleansers) that help to refresh your skin all while awakening your senses with the citrusy lemon scent!! 5. Sleep With Your Blinds Open

Waking up to the sun is the best because it allows you to wake up slowly and naturally as it gets brighter and brighter in your room rather than being startled awake by an annoying alarm clock!

6. Brush Your Teeth

Have you ever brushed your teeth as SOON as you get up?? It’s insane how much it wakes you up … and I mean, who wants lingering morning breath anyway?! LOL!

7. Make Your Bed

Have you ever heard the saying “Messy bed, messy head”?? It’s a real thing! If you get into the habit of making your bed first thing in the morning you will be surprised by how accomplished you will feel early on in the day! Getting one simple task done first thing helps set the tone for your entire day!! Here’s hoping I can teach Leo this at a young age … lol!

8. Leave Your Phone Alone

Refrain from checking your phone in the first hour of your morning … this includes checking Instagram! This is YOUR time to set your day up for success if you check your phone first thing you’ll more than likely start reading emails and getting antsy for the day. Start your day on your own terms, not one someone else’s!!

9. Essential Oils

Put a drop of peppermint essential oil in your palm, rub your hands together, cup your hands over your nose and take three deep breaths … trust me, it is nothing short of energizing!!

10. End Your Shower with a Cold Blast of Water

Toward the end of your morning shower, turn your water as cold as you can handle and try to stay under the chilly water for one minute, it’ll help you become more alert by energizing your nervous system!! Try it … don’t be scared! LOL!

    I love journaling in the morning. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes before I start in on emails or household stuff, it really clears my mind!

    Will defiantly do this! Though not the blinds haha my hours very, I don’t have a steady schedule working in a grocery store not to mention the street lamp right outside my window omg lol. Ahh the Instagram first thing in the morning is going to be tough! 1 hour no social media eeep! You are putting me to the rest haha. Lemon and warm water is something I have been doing ah but the making my bed. Okay okay! Will give these a go! Now I want to take a bath haha.

    I have been having a mug of warm lemon water almost every morning for 5 years and it’s a game changer!

    I’ll try to be brave and try ending my shower with cold water… I can’t wait to hear your steam shower review!!

    The glass of lemon water – I have to try that. I’m so groggy in the morning, I wouldn’t go as far as a cold shower. I would have a heart attack. Although, in some parts of the world, people jump into the ice hole or icy cold water in their shorts only. It supposed to strengthen the immune system. I don’t know…

    Great blog, thanks for sharing. Personally, I love to turn the water to cold at the end of my shower. Its a shock to the system that makes me wide awake, clears the head and gets me ready to face the day.
