Last night’s episode of Love It Or List It Vancouver was definitely one of my favourites. Karen and Ian were at a crossroad. They loved their home (so did I) BUT … it was 45 minutes out of town. Karen is a flight attendant and if you live in Vancouver, you know how bad the traffic is. Karen was sick of the commute and sick of always being stuck in traffic. Their home was a gorgeous mountain hideaway and in my mind it could be transformed so the commute would be worthwhile.
To make Karen love her home again and to make the commute manageable, I needed to step up my game. The main bathroom was extremely unconventional. The master bedroom was cold, dark and tucked away in the back of the home with NO view!! The ensuite bathroom was too small for two people to use. With the help of Kenny and the design team, we managed to put our heads together and make them fall in love with their mountainside oasis all over again. I might be moving in too lol!!!!
We freshened up the entire home with a new coat of Cloverdale Paint. It really brightened up the space and updated each room. It’s crazy how much a quick and easy coat of paint can refresh a home! If you are looking for an easy fix, I recommend starting here!
Transforming both of the bathrooms was the cherry on top to make them fall in love with their home again. We added new showers, vanities, tile, toilets and Nuheat flooring. If you haven’t stepped on heated floors in a bathroom before you DEFINITELY need to!! Nothing beats getting out of the shower on a cold morning to a warm floor!!
We moved Liam’s bedroom to where the master suite used to be. It was cold and dark so we added windows to brighten it up and give the room some life. We added in black out roller shades from Wholesale Blind Factory to allow Liam to block out the light when he wants (every teenagers dream lol)!!
A big thank you as always to Janis Nicolay for the gorgeous photos!!
