Love It Or List It Vancouver: Sherri & Jeff

Guys!! Remember when I said that last week’s episode of Love It Or List It Vancouver was one of my FAVOURITES because it was the first time I took Leo to set with me and he was only 10 days old?!?! Welp. This episode is an extremely close runner-up because he actually made his very first appearance in this episode with me … mind you, he was out cold sleeping … buuuuut he looked damn cute while doing so! LOL!

Ok, enough about Leo and I … lol … this episode is all about empty nesters Sherri and Jeff!! With the soaring housing market in Vancouver Jeff had the urge to get their home on the market and sell so they could put a little moola in the bank for retirement which actually seems like a brilliant idea BUT Sherri didn’t think it was their time to sell JUST yet … and it was my job to get Jeff on the same page!

In order to get them to stay in their current home for a few more years (and with a budget of $250,000) I had to renovate the kitchen, dining room, master ensuite and the garage PLUS update the master bedroom and front entry!

While we ran into a couple of problems very early on into the reno, we quickly realized that we had to downsize my to-do list in order to make room for the unexpected issues in the budget. One of the items we had to remove was the (and I CRINGE as I type this) renovation of the garage. This was the ONLY thing that Jeff wanted and I felt so bad when they decided to remove it from the list. Sorry, Jeff! Eeep! We also have to remove the renovation of the master ensuite (another shudder-worthy moment!) …

However, even with the stern looks from Jeff (lol … my goal was to make him smile!) and removal of their two top desired spaces to renovate … I think this home turned out beautifully and I can honestly say that because I got not one, but a FEW smiles from Jeff while we toured their newly renovated home!! That my friends is all the validation I needed. LOL!!

We installed gorgeous wire brushed oak floors throughout the home and added floor to ceiling storage in their hallway as there was LOTS of unused space. Now they have ample room for jackets, shoes, scarves, mitts, etc. You name it, they have room to store it.

Ps. If you want to see how the whole episode unfolds, you can watch this episode of Love It or List It Vancouver, here! Or, check out more photos of this space, here! Plus you can cruise the shopping guide for all products used in this reno, here!

We gave them a stunning new dining room table and chairs, new sliding glass door and window coverings, a huge island with a matte finish (so no fingerprints will show), we gave Jeff the gas stove of his dreams (smile count 10), new stone and wall oven and TONS of storage in the kitchen. Thank you to Merit Kitchens, World Mosaic Tile and Silestone for their GORGEOUS work in the kitchen!! I mean check out that backsplash … LOVE the modern twist to the traditional subway tile!

In their master bedroom, we covered the walls with grasscloth wallpaper which gave the space a cozy, calming ambiance. We also upgraded the insulation (a HUGE shoutout goes out to the team at Icynene Spray Foam Insulation!) and installed energy efficient windows, thanks to Centra Windows and Doors!

Ok so, while I have MANY favourite parts about this reno, my absolute MOST FAVOURITE is the dog hotel area complete with a cozy bed and storage for toys!! LOL!!

  1. Hi Jillian! I just watched this episode on HGTV and I LOVE THE OVERSIZED CHAIR YOU USED IN THE MASTER BEDROOM. Where is it from??

  2. That black & white check shirt you were wearing while you & Kenny looked through the house … where is it from? Loved it!

  3. I watch “Love It or List It Vancouver” faithfully and the main reason is because I simply love your designs. The homes are light, airy, comfortable and functional. 4. Beautiful renovation Jill! I’m so glad they *spoiler alert * loved it! I checked the products page and didn’t see the bedroom console table listed. It is EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for for 6 months!! I know you got it at The Brick. Do you remember the product name/number? Thanks so much! PS little sleeping Leo? Adorable!! ❤️

  5. Could you please consider coming to my house to help us to love it or list it? I’m desperate!!!!!! We live in a rancher, one floor, easypeezee, as you like to say. I Love you and all your people, I watch all your episodes, and I record and save my favourites so I can use on my possible futuristic renovation. Please, please contact me please.?
