My Favourite Decor Items That Haven’t Changed Since We Moved In

If I could describe my interior design style, it would be this: bright, light, a little bit pink, but most of all, TIMELESS! And, thank goodness that it is timeless because in the seven years that Justin, the kids and I have lived in our current home, we have left most things the same—making only some slight stylistic updates here and there to the space.

That’s the great thing about leaning towards more classic pieces and favouring quality… it lasts and really doesn’t need much updating!

Since it has been over SEVEN YEARS since we moved into this house, I thought it was time to talk about my FAVOURITE decor pieces that have stood the test of time… seven years of time, that is.

So, without further ado, these are some of my favourite pieces in the house that HAVE NOT changed since the day we moved in:

Front Porch

I could not possibly start off this list without mentioning our Hello Doormat. This doormat is seasonless. And that was an intentional choice! As much as I love doormats with cute seasonal quotes, I wanted a welcome message that I could have out ALL YEAR LONG.

The entire outdoor area was so important to me to set the tone of our house: classic farmhouse-inspired! We painted it Oxford White from Benjamin Moore, and the shade has held up all of these years and still looks sharp! To read more about our porch space, click here!

Entryway

One thing has been a constant in this space… the table when you first walk into our home! We love to display my Momma’s prints here, a fresh bouquet of flowers or decorations if the season calls for it! We got this table from Urban Roots Furniture way back when, but here’s a similar table if you’re looking for one!

The Kitchen

Like most families, we spend A LOT of time in the kitchen… especially in our family when the Momma of the household is always recipe testing for her latest cookbook!! (Click here to shop my latest cookbook! *Wink wink*) That’s why it was extra important to me to get the lighting fixtures right! I chose these Country Industrial Pendant fixtures from Lumens and cannot say enough good things. The industrial look nicely balances the bright and airy look of the white kitchen.

A common misconception about our kitchen is that we have updated our stools. We actually have the same stools since the day we moved in! The reason they look different from time to time is that we swap out the stool COVERS! This is a great way to give the space a little refresh without blowing the budget!

Living Room

Our living room really hasn’t changed in all of the years we’ve been here… despite the couch and chairs going THROUGH IT with Nachos and Peaches racing around, LOL!! I would LOVE to keep the couches and chairs, but thanks to our two dogs I think I may have to look into updating them soon… so stay tuned for that!

Otherwise, some notable pieces from this room are the coffee tables! We got them from Restoration Hardware. Sadly, they are no longer in stock, but the team and I did find this gorgeous coffee table from Pottery Barn that looks so beautiful in the photos!

We also still have our MASSIVE mirror from Anthropologie that I always place on the mantel right beside one of our seasonal Jilly Digital prints. Another staple that has stayed put all of these years!

The Deck, Pool & Downstairs Patio

Everyone ALWAYS asks me about our umbrellas. Believe me, I get it! I would be asking too. We got them from Overstock, however, they are currently sold out… But here is a similar umbrella!

I also have to mention our incredible pool loungers that we got from Trex (available on Wayfair). They have held up SO WELL all these years… and let me tell you, when WHITE furniture holds up that well, it’s worth noting!!

At our downstairs patio, you will find this coffee table, also from Trex—another one of our furniture pieces that have stood the test of time!

The Primary Bedroom

While this room recently underwent a BIG transformation, which you can read all about here, I went back to some of my favourite brands we worked with 7 years ago to supply some new bedroom furniture & decor!

The Cross Decor & Design was a must, of course. I co-designed a new bed with their team and it truly is the most stunning bedframe. We loved our pink bed so much, but this time we wanted to go with a more elegant and classic colour palette.

Other notable pieces from the bedroom refresh are our new shades from Q Design that are remote-operated! (Yes, that’s right! I don’t have to even get out of bed to open the shades each morning!) I felt like our original shades, as nice as they were, were too cool-toned for the new brown & taupe-coloured space. So, we reached out to Q Design, who we had previously gone to for the shades in our kitchen! They were fantastic to work with and we’re so happy with these new additions!

The Primary Ensuite

For this room, we went with a slightly darker paint colour than the connecting bedroom: Classic Grey by Benjamin Moore. Still to this day, we have not repainted it! It’s not too bright and not too dark for my taste.

Our bathtub has been the spot for many a spa night (if we manage to get the kids to bed at a reasonable hour!) I’m so glad we went with such a deep tub because no one feels cramped in the bathtub! You can really RELAX… which is the whole point right?

Another item I love in our bathroom is our vanity tray from Anthropologie! I often will have it out with my favourite perfumes placed on top. It always makes the space look so elegant and we get compliments all of the time!

The Dining Room

Kicking things off with a staple of the dining room: our Darlana Rattan Linear Lantern, which we own in this beautiful antique-burnished brass and natural rattan finish.

Our beautiful wooden chairs are also pieces I would recommend to anyone wanting a really clean, classic look to their dining room. We put these chairs through the ringer with kids, dogs, photoshoots (and maybe a few parties, LOL)… and only in the last year did I finally replace them. The two wingback chairs at the head of the table are from Restoration Hardware, the exact style that we have is no longer available, but I’ve linked a very similar version here!

And there you have it! My favourite items that have not changed since the day we moved in—plus a few new pieces for good measure! Now I want to know, what pieces in your house have stood the test of time that you still love? Comment below!

xo,

Jilly
