We’re almost at the end of summer and school is JUST around the corner (are any mamas out there excited? LOL!). So, it’s around this time that many mamas out there start to think about all the things that you need to grab like back to school clothes, indoor and outdoor shoes, school supplies, etc. The list goes on! But there’s one part about back to school that I know can be really tricky (and I’m anticipating I’ll struggle a bit with this when Leo goes to grade school!), so I’ve decided to write this (for my personal future use!) to hopefully make things a LITTLE easier on all of you parents out there!
Today I’m sharing some of my favourite lunch and snack ideas that I think will make your lives so much easier! On that note, I’ve been trying really hard to eliminate single-use plastic in our home so I’ll also share a few ways which you can pack your kiddos lunch and avoid using all of the plastic! For starters, they’ll need a reusable lunch box or bag! I’ve linked some cute ones below!
Reusable Lunch Bags
1. Tori’s Savoury Veggie Muffins
Not only are these Savoury Veggie Muffins delicious but they’re also an sneaky way to get your kiddos to eat their veggies! These muffins are perfect for a snack in their lunch or even for breakfast on the way to school! You can easily pack these muffins in a reusable container (tin or glass) and you’re good to go!
2. Vegan Almond Butter Bars
Granola bars are a classic school snack but there are so many options out there that are wrapped in plastic (not to mention, loaded with sugar!) so here’s a great alternative! These Vegan Almond Butter Bars are easy to make and your kids will LOVE them! Just wrap these babies up in some Goldilocks Wraps and call it a day!
3. Orange Omega No-Bake Granole Bars (Gluten Free)
I found this delicious recipe over on Tori’s blog, and it’s another really great snack option! The best part about this recipe is the fact that it’s NO BAKE!! Life just got so much easier! LOL! These are a perfect healthy snack option on the go and will keep your little ones fueled throughout their day!
4. Lemon Coconut Poppy Seed Balls
These little balls of deliciousness are packed with so much goodness and taste like a treat! Store them in a glass or tin container, or even wrap them in Goldilocks Wraps!
5. Ultimate Snack Guide
A month or so ago I created a fun DIY Egg Carton Picnic for the kids that had so many great snack ideas! All of these would be perfect in a school lunch (minus some of the nuts as I know there are so many allergies out there!). I’ve linked some awesome reusable container options that you can use to store these loose snacks in!
6. Sneaky Veggie Pasta Sauce
My kids LOVE this recipe! I can’t think of an easier lunch to pack your kids than this Veggie Pasta! This sauce is jam packed with so many greens, and hearty foods that are good for the soul! This sauce is quick and easy to whip up and perfect on any type of noodles! You could even pack this dish in a thermos to keep it warm (I’ve linked my 2 faves below) and send them on their way!
7. Tori’s Easy Plant Based Lunch Ideas
My cousin Tori from Fraiche Nutrition is a genius when it comes to back to school lunches for her two boys! She has a delicious Chickpea “Toona” Sandwhich and a Vegan Crispy Buffalo Tofu Wrap that are both great lunch options!
You can throw both of these in a tin container or a reusable silicon bag!
8. Tori’s Chicken Noodle Soup
I love making soup because you can make a huge batch of if either freeze it for easy grab and go lunches or eat it all up for lunch and dinner throughout the week! Again, just use a thermos!
There you have it! I hope you now have some extra ideas for back to school lunches and snacks, and can hopefully make it plastic free! If you have any other ideas and faves let me know in the comments below, I would LOVE to get some more ideas and options!

I love all these options! However, many schools are nut-free. I would appreciate more nut-free back to school recipes for my picky eater. Thanks!
I love the egg carton picnic! What a cute idea!!
Nice content and lunch ideas that kids will surely love.
