Hi loves!! I hope you all had a great long weekend!! And I also hope you didn’t miss out on last night’s episode of Love It Or List It Vancouver!! Welp. Whether you did or didn’t, I’m going to give you a little recap below!! Ps. A fun fact about this episode is that the reveal was when Leo was only 10 days old and I had brought him to set … looking back on these photos made me think of that and just how small he was! Gah … my heart … just look at that photo below! Oh! And for those mama’s out there who are pregnant, here’s a link to the maternity wrap dress I was wearing!!
Anywho … back to the recap! Lol. Brenda and Marcos moved to Vancouver 4 years ago because they wanted a more active lifestyle outdoors and let’s face it, who can pass up the ocean and stunning mountain backdrop that Vancouver has to offer?! Not these two!
Brenda and Marco ended up purchasing a fixer-upper as Marco is a handyman and was going to do all of the work himself … until their neighbours found out this was the case and started lining up work for him … needless to say, 4 years later not much has been done to their home and it’s starting to drive Brenda BANANAS (how many of you now have Gwen Stefani’s song stuck in your head?? … How about now?? LOL!).
So in order to help Marcos out with these overwhelming renos and to make Brenda happy in their current living situation I’ve got a HEFTY list if items we need to complete!! Let me give you the lowdown … In order for this outdoorsy couple to stay I had to renovate the living room, office, bathroom, and dressing room, add a second office, complete the guest bathroom, add a guest bedroom, and landscape and refresh the front of their house with the A n J Tree Service help, we are also thinking about getting some machinery from BestofMachinery for the house. Are you sweating at the thought of that list just as much as I was??

Welp. We got straight to it because we had no time to mess around if we had ANY chance of keeping these two here. It certainly didn’t take Kenny long to run into a couple of problems though (surprise, surprise, I tell ya!!). We wanted to give Brenda some extra room in her office and dressing room so my original thought was to bump out the space and take over some of the patio. Easy-peasy, right? Wrong. Kenny had to call in a structural engineer in to see if it was possible for us to do so and turns out we had to install a beam to support this extra work and considering the patio was right above the garage we had to install this beam in the garage and replace the garage doors so it would fit properly. THEN we found out that the WHOLE front of the house needed to be waterproofed which meant we had to replace all of the siding, windows, and doors and as you can imagine this took a toll on their budget which meant we had to ax the main floor bathroom and guest bedroom. I hated to admit this but I was certain that at this point in the reno, Brenda was completely over this space.
I gotta say that even with those few bumps in the roads this was one of my tops favourite reveals, I loved the way everything turned out and I think I even delightfully surprised both Brenda and Marcos with the results!! We totally revamped the front of their home and completed the landscaping, which looks unreal! We provided them with new lightweight aluminum garage doors, a new roofline, new cedar siding courtesy of Siding Vancouver, which we stained to give it a real west coast beachy look and finished it off with a beautiful new front door that we painted in seafoam green.
We installed big, new windows in the living room and a gorgeous new fireplace thanks to Valour Fireplaces and Olympia Tile and Stone and we replaced their old flooring with stunning wide plank oak flooring throughout the space!! We opened up their main entrance closet and equipped it with custom storage and my favourite part … a sliding barn door! LOVE!
Well? What did you think?? Which room was your favourite?? Or, I should ask, was Brenda’s office or dressing your fave? LOL. Share your feedback below!

Loved the stained Wedtcosst look you did on exterior. I’m wanting to stain my very large 4 level custom deck with this look. Can you share on paint? Stain?

Oh and Leo is just adorable !???
I just watched last night’s episode which I have on the PVR. OMG….I would love a dressing room like that (I need one desperately)! I also love the barn door, the front door & the chandelier, just to mention a few of my favourite things. I love your show because our tastes are very similiar. Being a WestCoast gal, I also love seeing the Vancouver area homes. I love to guess what area it’s in & my bet is on for the Barber Street area of Port Moody for this one. So enjoy watching your shows, Jillian!!
Omg I’m so glad you mentioned that you had had Leo already – because I noticed at the end that you were wearing a “Leo” necklace and I was so confused!! Also, amazing, beautiful design as always. Much like anyone who follows you, I would kill to have you design my home!
This walking closet is to die for! I wish it was mine but I am in the UK 🙁
