Morning everyone!! Mindy here!! Last night’s episode of The Bachelor was one for the books!! As always, the hometown’s are my favourite episode of EVERY season and last night did not disappoint.
I’ll warn you now … if you didn’t watch last night’s episode … don’t read any further as there are definitely SPOILERS in this blog!
There is something SO telling about meeting someone’s family, it shows so much about them and it can explain a lot about someone too. It can either IMPROVE the relationship … or it can turn out to be the last nail in the coffin.
Well … last night was a little mix of both … but needless to say … I was SHOCKED at what unfolded. Let’s take a look at what we thought about each of the hometown dates, starting with Caelynn!
The hometowns were kicked off in Caelynn’s hometown of Fredericksburg. There’s no doubt that Caelynn’s family is skeptical about the whole situation but I think it’s for the exact right reasons.
It was so sweet when Caelynn was speaking with John. You can tell that they both really love each other and he really took on the role of being her father, which is so incredible.
I was on the brink of tears when Colton asked John for his permission to marry Caelynn … it felt so sweet and incredibly genuine. I felt that John’s answer to his question was nothing short of perfect. In fact, I thought this ENTIRE hometown date was PERFECT. So much so that I was convinced Caelynn would be in the top two, hands down. Needless to say, I nearly fell off my seat when he called Cassie’s name over hers at the rose ceremony. I am SHOOK!
Next up was Hannah G’s hometown in Alabama! When Hannah said they were going to start the date with an etiquette lesson … I immediately thought … what the f*!k?? Don’t get me wrong, I actually think this is very important (and frankly, I picked up some tips from it … lol!) BUT I don’t think it was that awesome for a first date. Can we say … YAWN?!?!
This probably intimidated Colton EVEN MORE to meet her family … now he is thinking “napkin on lap, don’t touch bread with fingers, be Hannah’s umbrella” … LOL.
HOWEVER … I was soooo pleasantly surprised by how everything unfolded on Hannah’s hometown date. I thought for sure her family would be closed off to Colton but they really opened up and embraced the situation in the end.
Tayshia’s hometown in Orange Country was next in line! We went from etiquette classes to SKYDIVING. Holy crap! That’s a 180-degree turn of events! I think Colton was ready to pass out when he realized they were going skydiving (I would have as well!) … lol! But I think they both handled it so well … I loved that Colton said it was revenge for taking her bungee jumping!
I almost died laughing when Colton said a little prayer before jumping out of the plane … “Dear God, please let me survive this fall … I still need to lose my virginity … ” HAHA! ?
I was reallyyy nervous for Colton to meet Tayshia’s family, particularly her dad. From the previews, it looked as though he was going to be a tough cookie on Colton! However, I think his questions were totally fair but there’s no doubt he had some reservations about the whole thing but in the end, he DID give Colton his blessing, which is so awesome!
To be honest … I have NO idea how Colton is going to choose between these ladies. He seems to love them all (well, I mean he HAS told everyone that … gulp) and so far every father has given him their blessing.
And we still have Cassie to go …
Alright, last but not least! We have California Cassie!! Eeeekkkk … I was surprised to hear Cassie say to her sister that she wasn’t quite “there” when it comes to Colton asking her to marry him. That’s a little nerve-wracking considering the other three girls seem to be more than ready to take the leap.
There’s no denying that this hometown didn’t end up the way Colton would have liked. Between Cassie’s dad not giving Colton his blessing … and the fact that Cassie didn’t let Colton know that she is falling in love with him … I wouldn’t be surprised if Colton lets her go during the next rose ceremony. There is so much unknown with her at this point which is unfortunate as we can all tell how much he likes her … but, in my opinion … it’s just too risky.
Well, there you have it. I’m still TOTALLY baffled over the whole Caelynn situation … I mean … I really didn’t see that one coming. It’s SO HARD to tell which two ladies will be in the top two … I feel like Colton has such a strong and unique relationship with each and every one of them. However, if I could pick FOR Colton … I would suggest to let Cassie go and decide between Hannah G and Tayshia as I feel they are both in the right headspace for a proposal.
If I had to guess which girl he ends up in the end … I would have to say Hannah G.

Until next week …
